Great film for all ages

I first saw this film back in the early 80s, I loved it then and was delighted to be reacquainted with it. Truly a lovely film and suitable for people of all ages (my 82 year old dad loves it). Not overly sentimental, I believe the film offers a balanced portrayal of all its characters (human and non-human). The extra features on the DVD were fascinating and are certainly a bonus giving much insight into the making of the movie and the people behind it.

Classic, still worth having

Great film with an atmospheric feel. Not crystal clear but it is an old film, still very good playback considering. If you have very neurotic children, perhaps not a great idea as there are are few scenes that show cruelty, but also some that are so touching.
