I've gone back and forth pulling the trigger on one of these for a while and after my last shoot where I ran out of battery power and didn't notice (one man band and it was my b-cam) I bought this. It's perfect. It functions exactly as expected, is easy to use and set up, doesn't way a ton and didn't cost a ton. I paired it with a smallrig vmount and now I have no concerns about power over an interview shoot.

I picked up this SmallRig Foldable V-Mount Battery Plate for my Sony FX3 before heading to NAB 2025, and it performed great on day one. It connects solidly to the bottom of the camera and feels super sturdy — definitely a well-built piece of gear. That said, with a fully rigged setup and V-mount battery, the added weight was a bit much for handheld use over multiple days, so I went lighter for the rest of the show. But if you’re in a studio environment or using a tripod, this is an excellent solution for extended power without compromise. One less thing to worry about on set!

After writing a bad review, Smallrig was kind enough to reach out to me and help resolve my issue! Thanks Smallrig! old review: Read before you buy!!! I purchased this along with Smallrigs expensive V99 battery, and all I can say that they are not compatible. When the battery is attached I am able to wiggle it apart. You can see that the plate is not in tolerance and is off by a few milimeters, just enough for the plate to be twisted off. I have never expirienced this with vmounts before. I am SO DISSAPOINTED! Heres my review for the V99: NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT. I have this battery along with Smallrigs Vmount battery plate. When I attach the V99 battery to the vmount plate, I noticed I am able to wiggle it apart/off. BEWARE the vmount is not secure, I already dropped my battery from resting my rig against my chest. So I sandwiched an extra plate that comes with the Smallrig Vmount plate and seems to be secure but is only held with one 1/4”-20 screw. These are both Smallrig products, I’m not understanding why I need to install a second plate for it to work, for such an expensive item and all the advertising they have with the two, you would think they are compatible together, get it right smallrig! Hopefully Smallrig revises these Vmount locking plates asap or I will be going back to my FXLions.

So far I don't have any complaints. I have a Canon R7 and Smallrig cage. The cage's ARCA base shape allows it to slide into the baseplate perfectly. I'm not thrilled about the idea of the lever locks, but so far they have been holding nice and tightly. One thing to consider is having a smaller capacity battery for handholding.

This v mount battery plate did exactly what i needed it to. The quality is so nice and it is very strong. Good battery mount for the price. Ease to adjust because of the good design

This is everything I could have hoped for when building out a compact video rig with a Sony A7IV. I wanted to keep things compact and simple without using rails and this combined with the Smallrig V mount batteries fit the bill. My camera cage locks right into it and I have no need for a power distribution plate with the ports available on the batteries plus it is already arca compatible to put on a tripod. This combination keeps everything simple and saved me plenty of money not needing all the parts of a more traditional rig.

This is a small, but great and convenient v mount battery plate rig. I’m able to use the same mounting plate for my DJI rs3 pro, to switch to handheld on this. It’s quick and easy. My only problem is the time and energy it takes to securely lock the battery plate upright.

Ich habe dieses "V-Mount Batterie Plate Kit" gewählt, da ich eigentlich neu in diesem Metier bin. Ich habe Videos mir angesehen und eigentlich nichts passendes für mein Vorhaben gefunden. Diese Variante hat mir gefallen, da das Rigg ohnehin schon schwer genug ist, wenn man sämtliche Anbauteile ergänzt, kommt man auf ca. 2,5- 3 kg mit Batterie , Monitor usw. Die Komponenten habe ich mir zusammengestellt, die Basis ist eine Sony A7 IV und zurzeit ein SEL 24/1,4. Der Käfig ist von oben genannter Firma, alle Teile passen gut beieinander, nur die Befestigung am Kameragehäuse habe ich nicht geändert. Dort lasse ich meinen Kameragurt zum tragen des Riggs. Es fehlen noch Teile, die ich noch benötige. Good Look

Great quality mount as expected from Smallrig, feels very well made - the mount fits well to the camera with plenty of adjustment. K&F V-Mount batteries don’t lock in to this mount, which I’m not sure if it’s a K&F or Smallrig design issue. I had to use the Smallrig included spare triangular wedge to fit the K&F battery, so for one battery I was sorted by the spare wedge included by Smallrig. For a second battery, I had to buy a third party wedge to replace the K&F connector. All working now but just something to watch out for if you are planning on using this mount with the K&F batteries. I guess use the Smallrig batteries with the Smallrig mount!
