My porch light sticks out horizontally, about 5 1/2 feet up off the floor not downward. Will It work that way?

Can I use this light in a closet that has a door and will it light when the door is opened during the daytime?

It will sense your motion as you approach it. So I'd say if you can somehow avoid the sensor to get under it, or you get under it and wait for the light to go off, and you don't move at all, then yes. But I don't think you'll get around the sensor. It catches us from 5-7 feet away and sometimes a small movement triggers it back on it it has gone off.
