Ever since their saga started on the streets of L.A.'s underground racing scene, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have overcome impossible odds to outsmart, out-nerve and outdrive every foe. Yet when the team took down a nefarious kingpin back in Brazil, they had no idea his son Dante (Jason Momoa) was watching from the shadows. More lethal than any other enemy they've faced, Dante now rises as a terrifying new nemesis who's fueled by revenge and determined to shatter their family and destroy everything and everyone Dom loves. From London and Brazil to Antarctica and Rome, new alliances are forged and old enemies resurface. But everything changes after Dom discovers his 8-year-old son is Dante's ultimate target. Review: This latest iteration in the Fast and Furious franchise rocks.... - This latest iteration in the Fast and Furious franchise is pretty good, definitely better than F9. I own all of the Fast franchise on DVD or Bluray, this last iteration would be no exception. The stunts keep getting more insane with each new sequel. Bringing Jason Mamoa in as the main antagonist Dante Reyes, the son of the Reyes character in Fast Five, a corrupt police official who was killed in that film, makes for good storytelling by linking them both together. The cast has always been stellar, and have become this one big giant Fast family. That's the running theme in all of the Fast movies. In fact, the "Fast family" keeps growing with each new iteration. New to the franchise in this 10th entry are Brie Larson as Tess, and Alan Ritchson as Aimes. A few former castmembers have even been (presumeably) killed off, only to be mysteriously brought back in later films, which seems to be the norm. To be honest, this has to be one of the longest running action film franchises in the history of film making. While I have thoroughly enjoyed these films over the last couple decades (25 years this June in fact) since it was first released back in June 2001, many critics say the repetition of sequels is starting to wear thin. Some fans even think it should have stopped at Furious 7 with Paul Walker's last film, where they so touchingly dedicated the entire franchise to his memory. Anyway that aside, this 10th film was initially supposed to be the first of a two-parter, designed bring the Fast and Furious franchise to a satisfying conclusion. My big complaint is WHY its taking so long to wrap up the final film? Fast X came out over 3 years ago in early 2023, and my initial understanding was the 10th and 11th installments were to be filmed back to back, but that didn't happen. Let me explain why -- First off, I won't spoil anything for folks who have yet to see it, but Fast X ended on a huge cliffhanger, with the audience not knowing who supposedly lives or dies. The final film "Fast and Furious 11", is not due out until March 17, 2028 - five years after the 10th film, and this date could still be pushed out. Fast 11 has unfortunately been plagued with delays, primarily due to budget constraints, script issues, and cast scheduling. The production budget of Fast X reportedly cost a staggering $340 million, barely making any money at the global box office. So Universal is demanding drastic budget cuts for the 11th installment, capping it at around $200 million. So trying to make this a massive final film to satisfy fans, while filming within budget constraints & cast schedules has proved quite challenging. Hopefully, it won't get pushed out any farther than 2028, and we will get to see the Fast family again soon. All that said, if you're a fan of the series, I highly recommend this 10th installment "Fast X", either to rent or own, as the all star cast, action, stunts, and Fast family are definitely worth seeing. Review: Movie - Excellent movie! Waiting to see the final installment. Movie was very good and it arrived quick.
