Computer Systems: A Programmer's Perspective, Global Edition

Excellent summary of everything you need to know on program execution at low level. Contains abundance of exercises to get practical insight on each topic. I would recommend it to anyone who is into programming of any kind.

Few of the programming books that really teach what is going under the hood. This books is great in conjuction with the online videos fron Carnegie Mellon.

This book is great and has a lot of great valuable content. Unfortunately the global edition is filled with errors. The global edition of the book has a different set of problem from the US edition, and these where not produced by the authors. Most of the errors I've found while going through the content are in these. I'd advise to try to find a copy of the US edition of this book. If not able, work through the problems slowly and carefully checking your solutions where ever possible, specially with the solutions that can be compiled. Without doing this it's hard to be sure of what part of the content you have grasped or not.

The book looks amazing and it was delivered in time.

The main content of this book is excellent but this version is really let down by the crazy decision of the publishers to use different exercises in this version of the book. These exercises contain errors which until I read other reviews led to a lot of confusion. For an expensive book I wish I'd realised during the returns period. The paper it's printed on is also really poor quality with some text looking fuzzy due to poor printing.

This is simply a MUST READ for anyone working with computer

The content is different from the original edition: 1. the excercises are different 2. the solutions contain errors 3. there are two Malaysian contributors not listed on the cover, so spamming

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who studies computer science, without doubt. However I have read previously that others said the international edition has lower quality, so I had intended to purchase the North American edition, but it wasn't available, and I couldn't wait any longer, so I had to re-order and buy this one instead. Like others said: - the book has several loose pages that fall out easily, you have to carefully glue it back, but it's extremely hard to do a nice job on your own - the printing quality is a bit poor, not very sharp, as font is small, it can be difficult to read - sometimes you can easily see the pink shade leaks out of the blue shade due to the printing setting - paper quality is a bit too thin, but this is not a big deal over all... - some exercises have WRONG answers. This is very annoying and intolerable. Why would you provide a poorer quality for students outside of USA? FINAL VERDICT: if you have a way to buy the North American Edition, DO NOT buy this one.
