Bayattoo Steel Safety Practice Rounds Action Trainer Dummy Round Dry Fire Training Snap Cap

These steel training rounds from Bayattoo are simply genius! They give you almost an identical weight to real 9mm ammo and also almost identical proportions. I bought a handgun recently and used these to practice loading drills as well as "failure to fire" drills and having to clear the chamber. These are perfect for getting the muscle memory of also reloading 9mm mags as quick as possible, as they have a very similar weight and feel to real ammunition. I also used these as failure to fire drills mixed in with live ammo out on the range to force a failure and test my reaction timing. I would use 1 dummy round and 11 live rounds and mix them up and ask my range partner to load them in for me. That way I didn't know when the dummy round was next. I can't tell you how amazing these are, and I already ordered some .22 LR action rounds as well as .223 rem rounds. I highly recommend these, and would definitely buy again!

First off these being weighted more to typical weight of cartridges does add an increase in the level of training. Having a more realistic weight firearm to train with is invaluable. There is a large hole drilled into the side of the casing area to help distinguish it between live rounds. The problem with these are that they mimic the appearance of live rounds. Which could lead to negligent discharge or accidental discharge that can severely injure or worse. If these could be colored differently like High visibility orange or yellow these would be a lot safer.

The media could not be loaded. I got these dummy round to add weight to the magazine to help it drop faster during mag change practice. It works!

I liked that they are made for training. It is nice and hefty. They jam in my glock 19, but it is to expected. Overall good product

TL/DR - Affordable and good quality snap caps.(Purchased the 9mm (12 ct.) option.)I've had a difficult time finding snap caps that aren't temperamental or too fragile for sustained use and was originally hesitant to try out the Bayattoo brand. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see my concerns were unwarranted.The caps are made from durable metal with a rugged rubber striking surface. I have used them for quite a bit of time to put them through their paces and had zero feeding issues in my Glock 19. Rounds fit perfectly within the magazine and eject just fine if using appropriate force to rack back the slide after pulling the trigger.If you do not replicate the natural recoil of a round it is likely you will experience a jam which, while some may complain, is an excellent way to practice dealing with feeding or extraction malfunctions.For the value I can't recommend the 9mm option enough compared to overpriced plastic snap caps which never last serious use.(Pictured side by side for ammunition size reference is a Sig M17 hollowpoint round, a Bayattoo snap cap and a Sarsilmaz FMJ round.)
