Arguably the clear structure allows inspection for root development. Some people suggest roots will only form in the dark so some people do cover the pods with opaque plastic sheet. The ties help to ensure the pods close tightly.

This item was as expected, good value for the price and of reasonable quality. I have yet to see the results, but I have used a few and they are simple to use, come with plenty of cable ties to secure the two halves (although I have used twisted wire, so that I can more easily separate the two halves without damaging them.) Everything needed to take cuttings is included in the pack except rooting gel (or honey, which I am advised does a better job.., if you can find some proper honey.)

Didn’t work at all, I tested on 6 different plants, left on for over 2 weeks and no growth of roots at all, from what I read on the web, darkness is needed for growth, and this is transparent. Money wasted

I would not buy these if you paid me money to do it in the future. AVOID. they are flimsy and the zip ties are ridiculous as well! avoid.
