Als aanvulling voor mijn Audrey Hepburn boeken reeks

La copertina è stupenda. Il libro è in inglese con tante fotografie della Divina Haudrey a Parigi. Ho messo quattro stelle e non cinque solo perchè pensavo il libro, essendo di foto, poteva aveva un formato più grande. Comunque è molto gradevole, ben fatto e rilegato accuratamente con fogli lucenti e di spessore ottimo. Nel libro ci sono due cose che non vanno. La prima è la mancanza quasi assoluta di fotografie di Parigi. Vengono indicati i vari luoghi dove l'attrice andava o amava stare eppure non ci sono foto dei posti. O se ci sono sono comunque molto poche rispetto ai luoghi riportati. Questo è per me deludente, poichè una città meravigliosa come quella francese, sarebbe stato il massimo farla vedere nel dettaglio della fotografia. La seconda cosa che non mi ha gradito è il troppo gossip e dettagli sugli abiti splendidi, per lo più di Givenchy, che Audrey amava indossare. Certe volte abbastanza stucchevoli la descrizione di orpelli e merletti, che in foto si vedono chiaramente e non credo ci sia bisogno di darne il micro dettaglio per ogni cosa. Comunque volume che si fa apprezzare, ma ripeto le poche foto di Parigi mi fanno dare una stella in meno.

The author clearly loves this subject and has chosen a very distinct perspective. Who hasn’t seen the uniquely lovely, magnetic, intelligent, compassionate, and authentic Audrey Hepburn in a movie for the first time and said aloud: “Who is that?!” The detailed research is amazing and brings to even a non-fashionista (like me) the anticipation of what will the latest collaboration between Audrey Hepburn and close friend Hubert de Givenchy gift to the world. I did not know some of the aspects of her personal life and how she held it together in spite of heartache. I’ve always been a fan of the openness, sincerity, range, and nuance of her acting but now the dimensions that Meghan Friedlander brings to light have made me an even bigger fan of the person herself. This book has an abundance of quality color and black and white photographs, which along with a wonderfully descriptive text, succeed in seamlessly weaving together the multitude of threads of Audrey Hepburn’s life in Paris. Just browsing the photos of her is a real mood lifter, but the excellent text is what gives them their broader meaning.
