Review: 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY: CLASSIC FILM SOUNDTRACK! - Classic film soundtrack. It can be considered a classic and must go down as one of the greatest film soundtracks of the 20th century. It has haunting themes through its 'Requiem' track that echo the sheer isolation of space. It uses classical music such as 'Thus Spake Zarathustra', 'The Blue Danube' and 'The Gayanne Ballet Suite'. The first echoes the triumph of the space race, the second, the jovial nature of the space stations floating through space and the third, a more soothing view of human existence. It uses dialogue from the film with a detailed interview about the robot HAL 9000. The music is the film soundtrack to the film '2001: A Space Odyssey'. Review: Brilliant Soundtrack to an exceptional film - I have the original version of the soundtrack on vinyl, but this is suffering the effects of time. This version is outstanding. The additional tracks and the booklet, give more insight in to this amazing film. If you love the film, get this soundtrack. I play it load for full effect. Highly recommended.

Kubrik’s great instinct for music choices
Kubriks use of music for the soundtrack of this film shows’ as is usual with him, great instinct for what works in a certain context. Also great knowledge and interest in music. It introduced Ligeti to me for which I am very grateful. There are welcome bonus tracks on this cd.

2001: A Space Odyssey: A soundtrack that is out of this world!
Having seen the film recently here in London at The Science Museum's Imax Theatre in an 'unrestored' print, I was interested in getting hold of the Original Soundtrack Album having listened to the music during the film. My favourite is still Johann Strauss's Blue Danube Waltz which was just awesome seeing it on such a large screen. The rest of the CD has some great pieces of music including Richard Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra and additional tracks along with HAL's dialogue from the film.. An essential purchase!

2001: A Space Odyssey of classic music
When you see the film, you miss the soundtrack apart from some of more evocate scenes. The choice of music is right for the film. And has become so synonymous with the film.

Welcome to Planet Earth, Area 51 arrival zone
The soundtrack to 2001: A Space Odyssey is an iconic example of how music is used to evoke emotion in the cinema. If you cannot recognise the lead pieces you will be identified as an alien, incarcerated and tests performed upon you. This album provides good reproduction of the original score and is worth listening to. We hope you enjoy your stay and do not bring mass carnage and genocide.

Love both the film and the music.
This is the original soundtrack with a few very nice extras, especially liked the cameo from Hal at the end

FANTASTIC FILM, FANTASTIC SOUNDTRACK
I saw 2001 when it first came out, wore out the audit vinyl and cassette copies and the VHS tape, have two versions ofit on DVD - and finally got round to a CD. Simply the best and most thought-provoking science fiction of all

Best SiFi movie of all time, with the best soundtrack of all time
This is the best Science Fiction movie of all time. Though Stanley Kubrick had an original score written for 2001, he selected the music he used for testing instead. How can you compete with Also Sprach Zarathustra, The Blue Danube, and Adagio For Strings? Short answer, you can't. And, this CD is a faithful transfer from the original. Love this soundtrack since I saw the movie in the theater with my parents in the mid 60s, and then bought the record (vinyl, for you young folks), which I still have, it's just played a few too many times. If you love great classical music, and some unusual more modern pieces, you will love this CD. Long live Clarke and Kubrick!

2001: Odissea Nella Musica

Excellent remastering
I can’t compare this release of this 2001 soundtrack with other soundtrack releases. What I can say, however, is that this particular release is excellent. Firstly, the packaging is first rate - detailed liner notes in the 24 page booklet (covering “The Story”, “The Film”, “The Music”), generously illustrated with scenes from the film, track information comprehensive. The music itself is remastered - crisp instrumental dynamics and forward vocalising. The track listing is ordered as it appears in the film, with the Ligeti overture preceding the opening credits Zarathustra, something that some other releases fail to do. The supplemental material even includes a nine minute montage of HAL’s pronouncements and craziness, well worth having as a bizarre curio. It’s all here - Ligeti, R. Strauss, J. Strauss, Khachaturian, and HAL. If you want the 2001 soundtrack on CD, this is the release to buy.

Perfekte Neuauflage
