How thick is the grip?

It is the same as any standard replacement grip. About 1.5 mm. In size.

Can you use this as overgrip or is this meant to replace the grip? i have a wilson r97 w/ a 4 1/2 grip i wanted to expand into a 4 5/8 grip.

That's not how you build up a grip. FWIW, I did this with the RF97, no problem, but I am now going back down to 4-1/2 because it's difficult to hit a modern forehand with a grip that big.
