Thick oil stabilizer that works
Wound up grabbing this Lucas Oil stabilizer for my old Civic that just hit 160k miles and was starting to sound a little tired. I mixed it in during an oil change and the engine noise calmed down a bit right away. Nothing dramatic, just less ticking and a smoother idle. I’m renting right now and trying to keep this car alive instead of taking on a new payment, so stuff like this matters to my budget. The thicker feel of the oil when I poured it in made me weirdly confident it would help. After a week of commuting and a grocery run in stop and go traffic, the car feels happier and so do i. Price is fair and the quart bottle should last me one more change, which is reallly nice.

Simple additive that mostly works
Started using this in our old family SUV that’s pushing 180k miles. I grab a quart of this with every oil change and mix in about half. Truck runs a bit quieter and it doesn’t burn as much oil on long freeway trips with the kids. On a recent 3‑hour drive to my parents’ place, I checked the dipstick when we got there and it had barely moved. That part I’m glad about. Downside is it thickens things up, so cold starts on winter mornings feel a little heavier and the engine turns over slower. Also wish the bottle had a cleaner spout because i always drip a little when pouring.

Useful oil stabilizer for my truck
I've been using this Lucas Oil stabilizer in my truck's engine to help it run smoother. at first, i noticed less engine noise and a bit better performance during long drives. it’s pretty handy for keeping the oil stable, especially when driving on rough roads. that said, it’s not a miracle product and won't fix major engine issues, but it definitely gives a bit of extra protection. i do wish it came in a larger bottle or more budget-friendly, since it’s a bit pricey for just one quart. overall, it’s a decent addition if you want to help your engine run a little better and last longer.

Nice boost for older Subaru
Leaning on my 2012 Outback pretty hard most weekends, I picked this up before a long haul to a trailhead three hours away. I’m always dragging coolers, camp bins, and my old climbing gear up those mountain grades. After I poured this in, the engine felt smoother on the highway and that usual grumbly drone on climbs turned into more of a low hum. On one hot afternoon, car stuffed to the roof and kayaks on top, I still had no problem merging onto a fast freeway. Now I just stash a bottle with my oil change supplies and use it before bigger trips. Makes those dawn drives to the mountains feel easier.

What to know
I am writing this so people can understand what the product does and how it is intended to be used to. This product increases shear viscosity in your oil over the life cycle of the oil. You can effectively achieve the same things by going to a higher viscocity oil such as moving from 0w-20 to 5w-20. The smaller the distance between the two numbers indicates a lower shear and improved viscocity. In the difference mentioned the 5w-20 would be a slightly thicker oil and a little less adequate for cold climates. Oil additives are included in the oil to try and make up the difference but I will allow you to make the call on how effective those are. Lucas claims to eliminate dry starts. While this will be something that is more true on a fresh oil change one cannot know how well that is maintained over the life cycle of the oil as the Lucas will break down on high heat and high tolerance engines. I wouldnt call it snake oil but as the price has increased it has become more an evluation of just moving to the higher viscocity oil to achieve the same effective outcome at a lower cost. Lastly, If you dont want to change the viscosity of your oil and you question Lucas. then look into Pennzoil Platinum. It is made from natural gas and has less molecular break down meaning it retains the viscocity better through the life cycle of the oil.

Works well for your engine
Money spent on this oil stabilizer was definitely worth it. i've been using it in my truck whenever i go on long drives, and it really helps keep the engine running smoothly. plus, it seems to help with oil consumption, which is a nice bonus. the quart size lasts a good while, so i don’t have to buy it often. overall, i'm glad i gave it a try and plan to keep using it
