This is a CGP mental maths book which is divided into three sections with between 11-12 tests on each section together with a progress test and listening test at the end of each section. This Year 6 book covers topics covered by KS2 Maths for your child aged 10-11 years. Indeed, the questions are targeted and aimed at stimulating and puzzling your child’s mental maths ability. What I especially like is that the individual tests are broken down into A and B segments so that these are really bite-size with between 11-16 questions in each segment: so not overtaxing or overwhelming the child. Whilst I like the idea of timed listening tests I am less keen on using audio files (accessed by a QR code). That is my personal preference. However, these listening tests do test mental maths ability accurately. I am also not keen on finding the answers similarly online - what happened to the pull out stapled booklets? Each test covers one A4 side and there is room to write down your answers. Write 2:6 in its simplest form For the very able Year 6 child, this particular question is really simple. Yet, this book works perfectly with Year 6 Maths topics and I like the fact that this gets incrementally more challenging as you go so that your child needs to visualise and memorise numbers to answer without recourse to writing down workings - such as: Work out 176 500 + 80 025
