BKL 304 Double Strap Dovetail Ring - Low - Single

I have probably installed 30-40 scopes on my rifles over the years and never stripped a thread on the ring base...until now. I purchased a set of these BKL 30mm rings for my CZ 512 to install a Nikon scope. BKL's manufacture website suggests 35 in. lbs. of torque for the ring screws so I set my torque wrench at 30 in. lbs. I stripped one of the screws immediately. These are not steel like other ring manufacturers in this price range. I called BKL customer service to request a warranty replacment and the customer service woman was very familiar with the issue (like she had heard it several time before). She promised me an immediate replacment. It has been 4 weeks now since that call and no replacment has arrived. Poor customer service from BKL and no confidence in their choice of metal for this ring. The ring overall seems well-designed...just not pleased with the soft alloy. Would not buy this ring from them again as there are several other manufacturers in this price range that make rings from case hardened steel and who DO stand behind their product with a reasonable warranty.

The 30 mm is larger than 1 inch and that is not obvious in this description / had return them.
