What's the round thing, the button, that came loose in the box? It appears to fit the drain hole but I can't press it in. Any advice?

It is for the drain hole, but it doesn't press in all the way, by design. It sits up off the drain hole to allow water to pass, but block foreign matter like food debris, from plugging the drain.
