Easy to use when checking my newborn’s temp. I never was worried about putting it in too far. Very fast and accurate read. Added bonus: it also works to help him poop if he’s constipated!

This is a complete waste of time and money. It reads slowly for a few seconds, then stops like it is finished, but it’s not as the temp is still low. You turn it off and back on while in place and it starts reading again, but stops while still climbing and says it’s finished. You have to turn it off and on at least 3 times before it stops climbing and you can be reasonably confident the reading is correct. Very hard to do all while up someone’s bottom… If it wasn’t outside the return window, I would certainly be returning it. Waste of time and money.

You might as well make up your own temperature for your baby rather than actually measuring it with this thermometer. I placed this correctly in my baby, didn't move it at all, and just took several measurements within 30 seconds. The measurements ranged all the way from 97.6 to 102.3. Sequential measurements weren't even consistently going up like the thermometer was acclimating. One would be fever and then the next hypothermic and then normothermic and then back to fever. It's too bad because the physical design of the thermometer is really nice and the quick read out is very nice. However, if it gives you a fairy tale made up temperature, it's useless and not worth your time or money.

Found some tiny stray kittens that were sick, vet prescribed meds and asked me to monitor their fevers, so I bought this thermometer. The kittens didn't mind it much since it is very short and impossible to insert too far. The starting readings were the same as recorded by the vet's office, so I feel this one is accurate.

This is perfect for my foster kittens. It is easy to hold, easy to read, short for their comfort , and fast. By the time they start wiggling, it has a temp reading.

5 second read time sounds great until you can't get accurate results. I took the temperature 4 times in a row. First time was 97.8, second time was 99.4, third time was 100.5 and fourth time was 99.1 Which one do I trust? That's not just a little variation that's perfectly fine to you have a fever. Completely unusable. I usually trust Safety 1st products but I don't know how they sell this one.

Edited to add: while the thermometer was accurate at normal Temps, we just had an incident where we needed to check a higher temp. Within a couple minutes, this thermometer gave us readings between 99.0 and 101.3 (same person taking it, distance into rectum, etc.). We cleaned it and tried again a few minutes later and kept having this issue. It seems to be inaccurate for Temps above normal- when it really counts and you need to know if baby has a fever or not. I will rely on other thermometers instead. When it really counts, this didn't work. Not sure if it's just the one I got or something to do with the rapid read out or some other reason. It works quickly and simply and was very easy to figure out right out of the package! A good item to have on hand for babies!
