This is the best shampoo I have EVER used. Let’s start with the amazing smell. It was dessert in a bottle. The creaminess of this shampoo was beyond what I expected. I literally took a deep breath and exhaled feeling like I was doing something wonderful for my hair and soul. My 4-C hair was so soft and curly. I only washed once because I wash my hair weekly and there’s not a lot of buildup so I can’t vouch for what happens with two washes. I don’t do reviews, but when a product delivers everything it says and more you can’t gatekeep. It’s worth the cost. The only draw back is the bottle is small, but I don care. I deserve this.

Full disclosure, I’m a white woman (mayonnaise American lol) and I have very fine 3A hair with a scalp that can easily becomes greasy and using conditioner is out of the question for me as it weighs down my hair and becomes greasy within hours. It also doesn’t help that I live in Houston Texas and the combination of humidity, sweat, and frizz is a year round battle. So finding a moisturizing shampoo that is light can be very tricky and in my lifetime I have tried hundreds of brands (salon, dermatologist prescribed, OTC) in forms of cream cleanser, foam, gel, suds free, it just goes on. I find that products/companies aimed towards POC have always been my sweet spot. I use Girl Hair products such as Curl Cloud and their ACV conditioner because the consistency is like water and super refreshing without the weight and prevented shaving bumps when I had a super short/faded haircut. I told my barber about it and he now’s uses it for his locs as well as shampoo services in his shop for locs, dreads, twists (it’s that good). Since growing my hair out, I use it more like a clarifying treatment since it isn’t super moisturizing but it does make my scalp feel refreshed and super clean, especially in the summer. But THIS shampoo is the best I have ever used. I thought it would be a little heavy because it looks like lotion but really it’s just whipped and light. I don’t need conditioner at all, where as with Girl Hair, I need both in order for it to detangle my hair. This made my hair super soft, rinsed easily, and I was able to run the comb through my hair in the shower without it getting stuck. It also did not leave my scalp feeling greasy, even into the next morning/day. The smell is obsessive! I like that my hair still smells even after my hair dries. I never heat style/dry my hair so after it naturally dried, my hair was the curliest it had ever been and the volume was unmatched. My hair is also thinning with age and I shed a lot so since I saw some of the reviews saying it helped with hair growth I’ve become excited to see how that goes but whether it does or not, I will continue to use this shampoo. I haven’t tried any of the associated products because I think they might be to heavy for normal use but I may get something and use it as a overnight deep conditioning mask on occasion. I saw people complain about the price for the size and I must say it isn’t a big deal for me. My hair is shorter and fine so I don’t have to use as much but I can definitely see how it would be a problem for longer/thicker hair or someone with a much tighter curl pattern. Trust me, I’ve spent way more for even less product before so finding something that makes me really happy is worth it. So overall I highly recommend it as the smell is divine, it’s moisturizing but light, enhances my curls, and doesn’t leave my hair feeling greasy even after 24 hours.

Good shampoo, pricey, yes it is. Not greasy, thick and creamy, cleans the hair and scalp very well. Leaves my hair soft and has good slip for finger detangling. Give it a try if the budget allows it. I had to wait to get it. Glad I did, smells delicious.

GREAT smell!! Just like sweet potato pie, reminds me of fresh harvest and Thanksgiving and Christmas, lol. Lathers very well, thick and leave hair feeling clean but moisturized, (not stripped like some shampoo's do). Decent value for the cost. I am a repeat buyer and had this, along with several other products from this line on auto ship for a while.

this product moisturizes my 4c hair very well and smells great- i love it, but for eight ounces $15 is too high. this product would be five star if the price was reasonable

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently decided to wash my own hair and picked up Donna’s Recipe Shampoo and Leave-In Conditioner by the lovely Tabitha Brown — actress, vegan queen, mom, wife, and all-around beautiful soul. I just love her! She feels like the real deal — like someone you could sit on the porch with and just talk life. Now let’s get into this product… First Impression? The smell. Oh my God. Y’all. It smells like dessert. Like pumpkin pie, fresh out the oven. It’s warm, inviting, and makes you wanna eat your own hair (or your man might try to 😂). The Shampoo: I used maybe two pumps, and the lather was incredible — thick, rich, and satisfying. And this new word everyone’s saying? “Slip”? Baby, this has slip for real! My hands glided through my hair like butter — no tangles, no knots. I have locs, and this made washing quick, easy, and thorough. I always do two washes, and both times left my scalp feeling clean, but not stripped. The Leave-In Conditioner: Same thing — smells heavenly, glides on smooth, and a little goes a long way. The scent lingers, in the best way — your hair will literally smell like dessert. I'm talking “edible” vibes. Final Thoughts: This is a 5 out of 5 for me. Unless my loctician tells me otherwise when I get my next retwist, this is my new go-to shampoo and leave-in set. I’m packing it in my bag next time I go for a wash. I trust that it’s made with good ingredients, especially because it’s from Tabitha. It feels clean, effective, and made with love. If you’ve been thinking about trying it, this is your sign.
