I want this cup to make hot cereal in my microwave. Says it handles temps up to boiling. Will it hold up to a few min. of boiling oatmeal?

This will work great for that. I use it to boil things all day long, every day. I use it for oatmeal and for my constant cups of tea. It spends more time in the microwave then on the counter. I'm very happy with this item.

Do the measurement markings rub off or fade easily after several washings?

I have used mine for brewing coffee on our Kuerig coffee maker. The hot coffee has a solid content that builds up on the cup surface. I use a SOS / Brillo pad to remove the buildup. There is no degradation to the markings. I use this cup because it pours very well, unlike most glass cups. 
