The chase is on…and as exhilarating as ever! For Dr. Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford), a wrongly convicted fugitive, the trail leads toward the one-armed man he believes murdered his wife. For U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard (Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones), the hunt will end with the capture of escaped prisoner Kimble. Filled with tension, twists and an unforgettable train wreck, this critically acclaimed thriller remains one of the greatest cat-and-mouse pursuits of all time.On-Disc Special FeaturesIntroduction by Director Andrew Davis and Harrison FordCommentary by Andrew Davis and Tommy Lee JonesThe Fugitive: Thrill of the Chase2 Exciting Documentaries: Derailed: Anatomy of a Train Wreck and On the Run with The Fugitive Theatrical Trailer Review: Great transfer - Several recent 4K releases of older films have been criticised for tampering with the original product by utilising digital noise reduction and AI to "enhance" the film in question. I'm pleased to say that this edition of The Fugitive does not have an excess of these elements and looks superb. It has a very cinematic quality, which I imagine is akin to watching it in the cinema in 1993. The sound, which includes Dolby Atmos, is also excellent. A must-have for 4K collectors. Review: The Fugitive (2023 4K UHD/Blu-ray). - A firm favourite since I was a kid in 1993, this is a tidy re-release of a superbly made, entertaining thriller that’s lost none of its shine. Harrison Ford is Dr. Richard Kimble, accused and convicted of murdering his wife. When an accident while being transported to prison lets him escape, he begins his search for the one-armed man who really killed his wife. But U.S Marshall Sam Gerard (an Oscar winning Tommy Lee Jones) is also searching…..for Kimble. Who will get their man first? Made in the age before CGI took over it’s probably arguable some action sequences are a little low key for 2023 audiences, but in 1993 the train crash sequence and dam stunts were spectacular and still hold up. The rest of the film is a classic pursuit where two resourceful, intelligent men stand in opposition to each other trying to get to their goal. The story holds up, and performances are strong with a focus on the characters rather than silly twists and solid support (including a small role early on in Julianne Moore’s career) keeping the suspense up through to the finale. Hugely entertaining. The new edition has the 4K UHD disc and the Blu-ray. Film itself looks terrific, bright and clean (maybe a bit too bright but not a complaint). Extras on the Blu-ray are a combo of original features and slightly more recent ones. Two behind the scenes featurettes featuring main cast and crew, a commentary with director Andrew Davis and Tommy Lee Jones, the pilot episode of the short-lived 2001 television remake of ‘The Fugitive’, and trailer. It’s fine enough, but doesn’t take long to go over.

Finally, a fantastic 4K transfer of a cracking thriller
Owned this on the original shoddy UK blu-ray which was dire. Got the 2013 US Remastered blu-ray which was a lot better. I won't go into the plot as you prob already know it. Amazing how the film got made since they had numerous writers, re-writes and were even re-writing scenes on the day of shooting. I was nervous about this coming out on 4K as it's one of my favourite films. Read a few reviews the last few days where critics were giving it 5 out of 5 etc. Got my copy 2 days early before release date thanks to Amazon. I needn't have worried. The transfer is spectacular and I'd give it 10 out of 10. No problem. What a relief to finally get this with such a perfect picture. Can def recommend you get htis if you're a fan of the film.

Review of 4k transfer only.
Just a little too much enthusiasm in some of the reviews to be true. It's a very good transfer to 4k, but not flawless in some scenes. There's obviously more detail, but the main gains are from HDR - the spotlights, emergency vehicle lights and (in particular) the white, cloudy sky show how much is lost in non-HDR - in that respect it shows off HDR better than anything else I've seen. It may have Atmos, but you'll only notice that if you have dedicated height speakers - I have a 7.1 setup but there's no benefit to me as I don't have height speakers as well. I think many reviewers are not aware that barring this quirk, there tends to be little technical difference between blu ray and 4k soundtracks - so perceived gains are wishful thinking.

Great 4k disc
Loved this movie since it was first released. Given its age, and the film stock it was filmed in, I would say this is an excellent 4k rendition. Crisp clear image and superb sound.

'The Fugitive's Name is Dr. Richard Kimble!'
Great Film. Based on the original 60s TV Show. Harrison Ford is in fine form as the wrongly accused Murderer/Felon Dr Richard Kimble who tries to find out who has murdeded his wife and also set him up. Tommy Lee Jones (in a winning Best Supporting Actor Oscar Perfomance) is fantastic as the tough uncompromising US Marshall Samuel Gerrard. Great transfer to 4K. Has same extras as the original DVD & Blu Ray releases. 5 Stars.

Stunning movie in 4K UHD
Hadn’t seen this movie for such a long time. Watched it on my new 4K tv and was blown away by the improvements and detail even on the previous Blu-ray version, brilliant Atmos mix too, flawless picture. Reference quality movie for showing off your Atmos system to your friends.

Bedankt daarvoor.
