2013 album from the veteran British Thrash Metal band. Initially active from 1983 to 1991, Onslaught reformed in 2004. The band initially drew influence from second wave punk rock bands such as Discharge and the Exploited, and then adopted a straight forward thrash metal sound. Review: Exo-tera - This is probably over-simplifying things a bit, but to me this album sounds like a mix of Exodus and Pantera. Old-school 80's Exodus combined with that Dimebag swing and modern production values. There is enough Exodus sound in there that while listening I keep half-expecting them to break into a cover of Exodus' cover of Low Rider. Can't really take the lyrics all that seriously, but this album is highly energetic and lots of fun. Best new thrash metal album I've heard in I can't say how long. The last track is the only throw-away number on here. Probably just tacked on that one to get the run-time up to ~ 40 minutes. Still, overall a great thrash piece. If thrash is your genre, then yes, by all means go buy a copy and enjoy. Review: Awesome thrash metal CD! - Awesome thrash metal! I was surprise & blown away by this CD. I really enjoy listening to this CD! A great effort from this band who I thought broke up!

This is THE thrash album of the year!
I am going to make this review real short. I have been following the new metal albums coming out recently and there have been some real good ones, but this album surpasses all the others in my opinion. Album of the year. Just listen to it and you will want to get the CD!

They keep bringing it...
Onslaught knows what they do well and they keep bringing it to us. This is another solid batch of thrash tunes. No surprises here, just high quality metal. I don't think this is as good as their "comeback" CD a few years ago ("Killing Peace") from a songwriting standpoint. I felt the same way about their last release 'Sounds of Violence', but I am still enjoying them. Nice thick sound with a great vocalist for this style.

"CONTINUING THE ONSLAUGHT!!!"
SINCE THE 2007 ALBUM "KILLING PEACE" ONSLAUGHT HAS MADE A PHENOMENAL COMEBACK TO THE THRASH METAL SCENE! RELEASING HARDCORE/BRUTAL THRASH METAL WITH ATTITUDE! THEY FOLLOW UP FROM THEIR 2011 BRUTAL MASTERPIECE "SOUNDS OF VIOLENCE" WITH THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NEW ALBUM "VI", AND TO PUT IT PLAINLY THEY HAVE NOT SKIPPED A BEAT, BECAUSE THIS ALBUM IS HEAVY AND MEAN! JUST LIKE THEIR LAST COUPLE OF ALBUMS WERE. IT IS FULL OF RAGE AND THEY'RE STILL KILLING IT! THIS IS THE WAY THRASH IS SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYED AND NOT JUST SOME KNOCK OFF PIECE OF COMMERCIAL SELLOUT SACRILEGE! OR (CSS) FOR SHORT...HA! THIS KIND OF MUSIC IS FOR FANS OF TESTAMENT, OVERKILL, KREATOR, EVILE, DEATH ANGEL, EXODUS, ETC......FOR A TRUE THRASH METAL LISTENING EXPERIENCE, GO GET THIS TODAY!

Onslaught at its best....THRASH!!!!!
I personally believe that this album surpasses the previews two albums this thrash metal band has put out. They diserve recognition, they never do disapoint. If you like thrash metal, this band and this album does not disapoint.

Onslaughts bestes Werk. Thrasher alter Schule sollten hier unbedingt zugreifen. Besser geht's nicht.

This is one of the best releases of 2013, setting Sodom aside I truly believe Onslaught are the most underated band on the planet, if they were American this would be up for all sorts of nominations in the meaningless end of year awards dished out by the Metal Rags. Onslaught are British, and hailing from the UK myself (Northern Ireland) I just love it that this band crush the living daylights out of the latest releases from their American counterparts such as Death Angel and Testament, don't get me wrong I liked their last releases (I have already reviewed Dark Roots and I intend to review Dream Calls For Blood also) a lot but VI..... well its just better. In short its a masterclass on how Thrash should be played, heavy, aggressive, fast, huge chunky riffs and a class act of a singer with Sy, newish bands such as Thrashfire, Warbringer, Suicidal Angels, Havok and Fueled by Fire (all of whom I rate) should aspire to one day reach the levels of talent on display on this album, if they could get to anywhere even close then they know they are on to something special, VI is a monster and follows on nicely from the Beast that is Sounds of Violence, both need to visit your eardrums and attack the nerve endings, classical

Spectacular third album since re-formation, and the Onslaught formula is now evidently nailed. "Sounds of Violence" was a superb album, but on "VI", things are taken to a whole new level. Brazen thrash is played to perfection on each of these very, very good compliments. Scorching lines, rhythms and exceptional riffs punctuate the very heart of thrash metal and this is done under the guidance of a much stronger arena of songwriting. This album is frankly stunning, and certainly the best CD I have heard since Exodus - Exhibit B back in 2010. There are occasionally some nice additions of nuances like the arabic undercurrents of "Children of the sand" for example. The majority though is straight-down-the-line crushing metal. Standouts are:- Children of the sand, 66 ****ing 6, Dead man walking, and the (bonus only track) Shellshock. This extra re-recorded song can be found on the digipack version. I live, and am from, the local area of these maestros, so this release in particular has resonated and impressed me. This is good enough to put these guys on a roadmap to anywhere.

Brilliant. My first onslaught album yet they formed in 83 as a punk band. I knew of Discharge and Venom in 1980/1 but never knew of Onslaught until maybe five years ago!! I never really followed the thrash scene though to be honest being more into punk and death metal, but they didn't seem to have a high profile. Anyway I got there at last. This a bone dry, savage, hard as nails album, they make most, actually, all of the early 80's thrash crew sound relatively mellow, and the new bands too. One of the few older bands that seems to maintain or increase gnarlyness as time passes along with Kreator and Destruction.
