Excellent budget thermostat solution
Great little thermostat that's perfect if you're looking for a cost-effective upgrade without breaking the bank. I was originally planning to get a Hive system but decided to go with this as a temporary solution until I could afford the full smart home setup - turns out it does exactly what I need for now.Installation was incredibly straightforward. The engineer had it fitted in about 10 minutes - just a couple of cables connecting to the boiler and job done. No complicated wiring or major disruption to the system. This is an ideal solution if your boiler doesn't have an external thermostat. It transforms the functionality completely, giving you proper temperature control instead of just the basic boiler controls. The thermostat includes some nice little features that make daily use pleasant, and the wireless functionality works reliably. Temperature control is accurate and responsive, and it maintains the set temperature well.Build quality feels solid for the price point. The white finish looks clean and unobtrusive, fitting in well with most home decor.Perfect as either a permanent budget solution or a stepping stone while you save up for a more advanced smart heating system. Does everything a basic wireless thermostat should do without any fuss.Great value for money and highly recommended for anyone needing reliable temperature control without the premium price tag of smart systems.

Speak kindly to support and a positive repsonse can be rapid!
It seems the first one I bought never really worked properly, eventually chewing up pairs of AA cells every two weeks. Finally contacted Salus through Amazon, exchanged a couple of e-mails including photos of the parts tech info panel on the rear. They quickly acknowledged there was a problem and put a replacement in the post which I received the very next day. Some reviewers have had a bad deal with Salus support, but for me it was fast, no need to send anything back. So just mounted the new transmitter in place of the original unit, paired it up and working within a few minutes. This one seems to work according to the instructions, later firmware, who knows, hopefully the batteries will last more like year and not 2 weeks. Overall I give it 5 stars becuase when it is working it's easy to use, support very polite and quick, has more than 1 year of guarantee whether bought on Amazon or direct from Salus. Hopefully they honour the full 5 years via Amazon.

Works well, but very poor wiring instructions.
Once installed it seems to be accurate and works well. The big issue that if you re not a heating electrician, the wiring instructions are nonsense. As the nomenclature for a typical old analogue system you are replacing and that of the Salus are very different. The following explanation is for replacing an old Drayton thermostat with the Salus RT310.The Drayton has 4 wires: typically blue - neutral, brown - permanent live, black - switched live and green/yellow - earth. The Salus has 3 inputs 1 - COM (common terminal), 2 - NC (switched live - off), 3 - NO - (switched live - on).To reconnect, you only use 2 wires: Live (Brown) goes to COM (1). Permanent live (black) goes to NO (3). There is a holding port for the earth wire, and I masked off the blue neutral wire.Job done, and the good news is that the holes for this replacement are a perfect match, so no drilling required.I had another issue with the temperature reading not being correct. Again, there is nothing in the instruction manual about it. After a lot of googling (try the product name and "offset"), I found a short video by Salus on how to change the temperature to the correct level.Hope this helps someone.

Good value functional Room thermostat
Bought this as a direct replacement for one of my Room Thermostats (Gas C/H underfloor heating), the existing being Honeywell T40 mechanical room thermostat. This is a good easy to install 'stat with both normally open (standard 230V control - which mine is) or volt-free normally closed control. Since the unit (which it would need to be for this type of application) is powered by 2 x AA batteries (included), it doesn't require the neutral core - so simply terminate into a terminal strip, or fold over and tape using insulation tape. Earth cable you can terminate similarly or onto back box earth terminal. So, simply Live and and switched live (2 x cores) is all that is required.Good features (such as sleep mode / frost setting) as well as back-light display button.Great alternative to a mechanical 'stat at little additional cost.Note this is NOT a C/H controller (i.e. with programming etc., that is something different), but purely a room / zone thermostat.Slight niggle is that the instructions are somewhat confused and might not be clear to someone not overly familiar with basic circuitry, and the operation instruction is similarly rather ambiguous! Just takes a little thinking about. Don't let that put you off though, a very good product!UPDATED 20/11/18: Since purchasing, I ordered a further quantity to replace all of the room thermostats. Very pleased. Before installing, I placed all of them together (leaving for a while for the temperatures to "settle"). This verified all reading the exact same temperature which is good, meaning they are pre-set accurately (even though you can calibrate if necessary)

It talks to my boiler. A no bells and whistles thermostat that saves £'s
Had one of these portable little gems in my old flat. But reluctantly, obviously, had to leave it behind. So I bought this one for my new place. A small Bungalow. This stat replaces an old Horstmann programmer and wireless stat that was already here, That is basically next to useless. Just one door away and does not talk to the boiler. It just ran and ran. Wasting valuable gas! This Salus stat is relatively easy (If you are in any doubts, please get an Electrician.) to wire up. I have the receiver fitted in my boiler cupboard and the Room Stat in my spare (The coldest) back bedroom. Roughly, as the crow flies about 8 meters away, and 3 closed doors in between. I.e. The bedroom door, Small hallway to living room door and the boiler cupboard door. This stat talks to my boiler through all that! And I am sure the signal would travel through more than that. And its a no frills stat. I really cannot be bothered with all the daily, hourly etc, programming palarvor that others do.. I just want it as Auto, on and off at my set temperature and that's it. I don't want complicated bells and whistles. It is a damn fine stat. Saving me £'s on energy bills like my previous one did.I can highly recommend these Salus Thermostats.Experiment with the rooms in your place. Find the sweet spot. Keep warm...Enjoy! 🫠

Battery Life is Terrible, Unit keeps failing
I brought this unit to control an outbuilding. Whilst the unit was reasonably easy to fit, the reliability is an issue. First of all the battery life is about a month. These are good quality name brand alkaline batteries and I get a month. Worse when the battery goes flat you put in a Fresh pair, it doesn't work. You have to remove the old batteries. Wait about 10-20 minutes then put in the new set. I have had the unit not work for a least a week or two. Then it will restart again. So the reliability is not good.I have contacted Salus to organise a replacement under the 5 year guarantee. They have asked to send in the unit. This means taking the unit out leaving dangerous bare wires. Waiting for the unit to be posted to them and they state they need to "test" before sending out a replacement. Again this will leave my out building with no heating control. Fortunately it is now warm enough so it is not so serious. However imagine if this was in Winter! So unimpressed with the 5 year guarantee. Its only a £30 unit, I have spent at least £10 on feeding it batteries. I need to post it to them. Then if they feel its not a fault, will they charge to send it back? So in reality the guarantee is useless. So can't really recommend this product.

Good value
Easy to install replaced a Honeywell thermostat that had a dodgy display.this is far simplerHas a nice.clear display with arrows to change the temp and a backlight that comes on whilst pressing buttons.receiver replacement was straight forward,,a live and neutral going into the unit and a pair of wire across the normal open circuit and common.it was like for like on mine and quickly responds for demand within a couple of seconds.thermostat blends in next to light switch as only slightly bigger but obviously much deeperHad salus before good value

Easy to fit. It’s not programmable just a simple wireless thermostat.
I bought this as my central heating system relied on thermostatic valve to regulate with no room thermostat. As the boiler has an inbuilt programmer I wanted only a wireless room thermostat that I could move between the kitchen and lounge. It does this admirably and doesn’t lose connection! As to fitting this is pretty straightforward. I have a Worcester Bosch FS550 highflow so was a bit apprehensive about compatibility but it’s fine! I used some 4 core cable which allowed me to run the required power and thermostat cables as a single cable. A 3 core could be used but that would require a jumper for the live and I wanted to run a separate live from the boiler. The connections in the boiler were all found in terminal block ST10 and comprised live (L), neutral (N), live supply to thermostat (Ls) and live return from the thermostat (Lr). The last 2 had a jumper installed which I removed. On the wireless unit I wired the live and neutral to the live and neutral and the Ls to the COM and the Lr to the NO terminals, hence the 4 core cable. When I switched it on the wireless thermostat started communicating with the base unit and all was working fine. Remember to leave it to do its pairing for a few minutes.I’ve since tested it out to ensure on reaching the desired temperature it switches the boiler off and then comes on when the temperature drops. All went ok and I now have a mobile thermostat, albeit with a stand that keeps falling off when I move it.It’s a great little unit and does what it says it’ll do.Hope this helps
