Beautiful coffee table book. But with a twist - it’s actually a delight to read. Presents a lot of facts in an easy to understand format. I have long admired swans and tried to find an accurate book about them. This one ticks all the boxes. The photography is awe inspiring - really skilful and joyful to look at. The author is clearly very dedicated and how lucky for us that he’s clearly learnt all about swans and decided to share his knowledge with us.

This is truly a stunning book with many wonderful photographs. Malcolm Schuyl has gone to extraordinary lengths to produce a book which is readable and very informative. Ideal for anyone interested in the swan, the book provides a concise account of the various stages from egg to adult together with associated accounts of the relationship between the swan and humans. Particularly poignant is the chapter on 'Saving our Swans' where the injuries caused by humans both accidental and deliberate are highlighted. Overall, I much enjoyed reading the book, but if I have one grumble - and this is not due to the author - it is the instances where a stunning photograph is spread over two pages and some of the photograph disappears into the middle of the book. An excellent book for a gift.
