Primary Mathematics Standards Edition Tests is a series of assessment books. This series is aligned with the standards adopted by the California State Board of Education and follows the topical arrangement in the Primary Mathematics Standards Edition Textbooks. Each chapter comprises Test A and Test B, and each unit concludes with similarly structured Cumulative Tests. Test A consists of free response questions and assesses students' grasp of mathematical concepts while developing problem-solving skills. Test B is optional and consists of multiple-choice questions aimed at testing students' comprehension of key concepts. As such, it may be used as a retest if teachers perceive the need. In Cumulative Tests A and B, questions from earlier units are incorporated into each test. These tests focus on review and consolidation through the integration of concepts and strands. Primary Mathematics Standards Edition Tests aim to provide teachers with a set of structured assessment tools for the systematic evaluation of students' learning so as to better understand their individual needs. Review: Singapore has the HIGHEST MATH SCORES in the ENTIRE WORLD! - This is my fourth time buying this workbook. I have the textbook because I homeschool and have used it for all of my older children. Singapore has the highest math and science scores in the entire world - followed by Japan and China. I found out Singapore sells this from a friend whose son was older and attending a private academy in Arizona. I remembered it for later, not thinking I would homeschool, but filed away because I knew no matter what, I would supplement. The series are AMAZING and it's so easy to see why the kids in Singapore excel. First, the 1A-1B is equivalent to a second grade in America. We are so behind (18th in the world, last I checked, for science. Math is likely worse). The books are colorful and make complete sense to a child's brain. Math is not easy for humans to learn but every human has the capacity to be excellent at Math. It needs to be taught the right way. And obviously, data shows this is the way to do it! Every year goes over the same thing but at a higher level. The kids use the number line and learn to do fractions in a way that makes so much sense. Their word problems have made the news as American adults are unable to solve them. A child taught Singaporean Math has no issue whatsoever. These kids breeze through Algebra because Singapore Math weaves algebraic thinking and pre-Algebra into their curricula. My kids are all testing way higher than grade level. My six year old tests at a 4th grade math level. I have him on ixl and I can link Math in Focus (another Singapore Math book but it's not distributed by the Singaporean Education). This one is a no-brainer for me. I had HORRIBLE math teachers and now I am so confident in my math skills. :) Review: Great for laying a foundation for understanding math concepts - My 5 year old has done both the 1A and 1B workbooks and really loves doing the exercises. This series of books is absolutely wonderful at getting children to really understand abstract mathematical concepts. It starts from an illustrative approach and slowly moves to a more abstract one rather seamlessly. I have been surprised at some of the concepts that my daughter has grasped, concepts that I thought were rather difficult to both understand and teach. Highly recommend this series.

Lays a great foundation for math
I love this series of books for homeschooling. They introduce mathematical concepts in a very organized way that they build on over the years. I think this may be the best math book out there.

US Edition is different than the original
came in a timely manner and is exactly as described. My only mistake was not knowing that U. S. Edition makes it not go along with my text book and teacher book. Kinda frustrating that it didn't make that part clear in the description.

great for what it is, didn't work for our son
our son struggles with math facts, so i thought this would be a great way to help him really *dig in* & get those facts, as opposed to the spiral approach. we used primary mathematics 1a & 1b in 1st grade, but our little non-math-brain child did not get along well with this approach. we switched to saxon math (spiral approach) at the end of these books, & have seen his confidence rebuilt. this would be a great program for a child without our son's math disability.
