Many kits are sold with a fuel labeled "gelled ethanol fire starter" for pellet stoves. If you buy it as "Hot Pot fuel", they want $9.95 for 4oz. On Amazon, Meeco sells a 32 oz. bottle of Gelled Ethanol Fire Starter for pellet stoves(with free prime shipping) for $15.99 as of 3/2017. I didn't use any gloves...the only time you would need them, if you handled it hot...I preferred to let it cool, which the directions suggested.

Do they have textures or are they just blank

There is no liquid in the kit. Also, you could buy it online from PMC and they can better answer your questions. You would also get it faster because it wouldn’t be shipped from Japan.
