Best Cocoa powder on market! Rich Dark Chocolate.

This is my favorite brand of cocoa powder. I loved the taste, and I am also a big fan of the fact that it is fair trade. I read an article once where a young boy who had been forced into child labor on cocoa farms was interviewed, and he mentioned how he felt like every time someone was eating chocolates produced from farms like his, he felt like they were eating his flesh. Made my cry, and made me think of things in a new light. I'm not always perfect in my purchasing, but that is why I try to go fair trade on my chocolates and cocoa powder when I can. And I have often found those items have a superior taste. Not always, but often. And this cocoa powder is no exception, I find it to be worth the higher price, and when I forget to purchase it in my local store, and can't get back out, I love that it can be found on Amazon.

Actually, I give this product 4.5 stars, but Amazon won't let me do a half star... I don't do a whole lot of baking, but I do add 2 Tbsp. of this baking cocoa and 1 Tbsp. raw sugar to warm raw milk and it's tasty and healthy! You do have to be pretty vigorous with a whisk to get all of the chocolate chunks to blend in, but it's worth it. I love that this cocoa is organic, fair trade, and reasonably priced as well. It's a quality, tasty product. I wish it wasn't processed with alkali, but that's the only reason I can take a star (I wish it could only be a half-star) from my rating. I only bought one can to share with my husband to try it out but it's nearly gone now, so now I'll be buying more and in a hurry!

This is some really, really tasty cocoa! It is unsweetened and made for your baking and candy making. Of course you can whip up hot chocolates by adding sugar and your own compliments of ingredients. But, lets just talk cocoa a moment. Hershey's is your basic store brand that was a go to for me for a long while, simply because not much else was ever out there. It's good. But a bit bitter. It has a slight Hershey bitter aftertaste that is almost a brand thing to your palette. This? Is fine, nearly sweet by virtue of being so good quality cocoa. Definitely heads and shoulders above Hershey's style cocoas! If you are a particular fan to a certain brand, you'll probably pick up subtle differences in the flavor. I've tried a few other brands once I got access to places like Whole Foods or World Market and have to say, the Equal Exchange is my favorite I've tried so far. It's also right on the price!
