Design prevents accidental pulling of the wires of the plug
I am sure the way this was designed with the wire located to one of the side of plug’s body makes it less likely to get damaged resulting from usual pulling out the wire instead of the body of the plug that happens when the connection of the wire is located opposite of the the usual 2-pronged plug
