worked right away.
easy to change. The egg smell was gone. i don't understand why a professional plumber could not figure out my problem but by searching on the internet for a little while i got the problem to disappear in less then 40 minutes. This anode rod came with all the parts needed for the job. it took about 40 minutes from start to finish. it seems to be of high quality and went in easier then i expected. you will need some tools to complete the job, but a handy person will have no problem. I am also planning on buying a replacement every 6 months since our water was very smelly.

Amazing Product and Amazing Customer Service
Absolutely satisfied with this product!! I bought the complete package (the more expensive one) which came with the big things you would need to change out the anode rod. The quality of the tools provided were great and I still have the socket in my toolbox for if and when I need to do maintenance and decide to change the rod. Most tools needed a "handyman" (how I perceive myself, mind you) should have. I only needed to buy a 1/2" drive breaker bar, which I also found on Amazon for $12, was recommended by both YouTube DIY videos and the instructions. The instructions were absolutely awesome. It went step by step through everything through everything you needed to do and explained it as if you had no idea what you were doing, because believe me I did not. I would highly advise going through the instructions prior to doing anything to ensure you have what you need and to get your head around the 20 minute (45 minute tops) job you will have. This practice actually saved me not only time but money due to a mistake I made ordering the product but the instructions saved me from. The customer service was awesome. Quick, efficient, and very knowledgeable. As I said before, the instructions really saved me. I originally bought the magnesium rod, which upon reading the instructions, I saw it was not the rod that rids the hot water of the rotten egg smell. I immediately contacted the email on the box and within about 2 hours (surprisingly) I received a reply detailing the return policy and informing me that it is highly advised that I return the rod because it will make the issue worse and they wanted to ensure I had the right product which would give me the right result. I ordered and received the wrong rod, returned it, ordered and received the right rod, and had it installed all within the same week. Understand this: The smell may not completely come out of the water immediately especially depending on the amount of time the water has been smelling like that. The smell got exponentially better by the next day (I did run the hot water quite a bit) and it is improving as time goes on. I'm assuming it might be whatever left in the pipes and maybe residue as well (not sure). However, my family is greatly appreciative and I am only upset I did not find this fix sooner. Thank you guys for all of your help. I will be going through you guys for the next rod change or whatever may come up.

They thought of everything!
The About Fluid Michigan anode rod kit, the product description, the selection advice (Al vs Mg) and the instructions were all fantastic! I'm a fairly experienced DIY plumber, but I think anyone could feel confident that this kit was the right choice when ordering, and be comfortable that they've installed it correctly. The aluminum rod is working well to keep the sulfur smell away. The segmented rod is easy to install and looks more robust than others I looked at in stores. The included 1-1/16", 6-point, deep socket worked perfectly and will be a high quality addition to your socket set; and of course, who can't use an extra roll of teflon tape! Much appreciated that About Fluid thought of everything! (Note, I completely drained and refilled our 11-year old tank and added the suggested Hydrogen Peroxide. Maybe overkill, but the smell was gone immediately. If you choose to drain your tank completely, just remember to break loose the old rod's hex fitting while the tank is mostly full, so it's weight can resist the torque of loosening the fitting.)

Amazing product smell is gone!
This product is amazing. I've owned 8 houses in my lifetime and never had a problem. This water has iron in it and stunk horrible when heated. My current heater is only 2 to 3 years old. Right after installing the new rod the smell is completely gone and water is much softer. So happy.Things they dont tell you....if it's the original rod in your heater it's very tight, I couldn't budge it with a breaker bar. Had to go borrow a 1/2 in battery powered impact wrench from my local garage. It's down in there so its tricky to get the threads started too. But it's not too bad of a job. It's nice they include the socket because it's big and 1/2 in dr.

Well worth it, Great product. Everything you need.
This has everything you need with easy to use instructions. I'd definitely recommend the impact driver to get the old one out if it has been a while. But this kit was amazing, and cheaper than just a standard rod from the big box stores. Thanks for a great product.

Worked Immediately
Immediately removed sulfur smell in water. We have well water and had to replace our hot water heater, upon replacement we started getting an extremely strong sulfur smell, I researched and found the perhaps it was the sacrificial anode rod. Bought this hoping it would fix the issue and was amazed the smell was gone right away. Highly recommend purchasing if you have the same issue.

Defective part forcing replacement of entire hot water tank.
The kit came with everything needed. Had to cut the old anode into chunks to fully extract because it was so long, so was happy to have a segmented anode to replace the old one without moving the tank. I got the new anode in, but wasn’t sure the plumber’s tape didn’t strip off while threading, so backed the head out again so I could redo the plumber’s tape. When I backed the head out and started to lift the anode a few inches to re-tape, THE ANODE FELL COMPLETELY OUT OF THE SCREW HEAD and I could hear it hitting the bottom of the tank as it dropped down. I was left holding just the head with no anode attached. There was no screw threads, glue or weld showing inside the head where the anode was seated, so I have no idea how it was held in originally if it was held in at all or just unbelievably cheaply. There is no way to fish the detached anode out of the tank. If it didn’t happen right then, it would have happened when replacing it anyway. So basically this thing completely destroyed my 3 year old hot water tank as it will erode and compromise the tank lining while laying on the bottom. Couldn’t be more disappointed after finishing the entire job for this to happen. I honestly can’t believe they sold me an anode that would fall right out of the screw head and fall down into the tank setting me back many, many hundreds of dollars and hours of work for a cheap replaceable part. Now I have to replace an entire newish tank before it leaks for the cost of a defective anode. It was either engineered so cheaply it failed under no stress, Or it was a bad part. but obviously can’t return it since I can’t access it. I’m disgusted and Bitterly disappointed.

Made rotten egg smell worse. Sadly too late to return but I would if I could. DON'T buy if you are trying to fix the issue with smell from hot water.
