desertcart.com: Valve Steam Deck OLED 512GB Handheld Gaming Console, 7.4 inch, 90Hz, SteamOS 3.0, 1280 x 800 : Everything Else Review: DECK IS NOT OLED - Received cheaper LCD Model - I received an LCD model, NOT OLED. The deck is in great shape and works perfectly, I am very happy with it, but was disappointed to find out that it was the lower tier model. It was still decent value at $523 after non-prime shipping and tax, especially in the midst of the Christmas shopping rush and while new LCD decks were sold out on Steam. Valve/Steam now no longer makes the LCD models (originally priced at $399), and currently lists the 512 GB OLED model at $549, with prices expected to rise due to RAM/hardware prices surging from AI demand. So overall, if you can get this LCD model for closer to its original sale price of $399 then it is definitely worth it, but at mid $500, I would go for a new 512GB OLED or used if you can find a better deal. These Decks are durable and high quality, so buying second hand is a solid choice, especially with the ability to return on desertcart in the unlikely case that you get a defective deck. But given the tech market circumstances when I made my purchase, I am still reasonably satisfied. Steam Decks are great products and are still worth purchasing even at higher prices. Just make sure to get the SteamOS versions, as they have 50% better performance in some cases than the Windows Decks, due to not bearing the tremendous burden of running Windows in the background. TLDR; I got an LCD Deck instead of the OLED Model described in the listing. But with the Christmas Shopping Rush, Discontinuation of the cheaper LCD model, rising hardware prices, and the amazing value of Steam Decks, I am just happy to have it even if it is a lower tier than advertised.
