what grade saffron is this?

I'm not sure about saffron grading, and I've purchased it only a few times, but it is the best quality that I have purchased. I have a bottle from Costco and this is much deeper red - makes Costco's look almost orangish. Sorry that I can't be of more help.

I just bought this for the first time. Is it supposed to smell like the cork that closes the jar?

My cork smells like the saffron.

Does it keep well and for how long? i have a friend moving away in a few months. can i order it now or should i wait until it's closer to the time?

I freeze it tightly enclosed and wad plastic wrap over the top of the threads to keep aromatics in and notice no deterioration in flavor for a couple of years.
