Logitech MX518 Optical Gaming Mouse

Let me start off with my reason for buying this mouse. Any other mouse I bought basically broke after a few months usage, and I needed something primarily for gaming. Now let me tell you that I was not let down by this mouse. This mouse has, and still is functioning brilliantly, after, wait for it, 2 years of usage! Now, I find this incredible, because most mouses I had bought before this had some problem, mostly the cable breaking or buttons sticking after a while - none of this on this mouse has happened yet. I play PC games a lot, mostly first person shooters, and I've never had a problem with this mouse getting the job down, unlike other mice I've played games with (a few years ago my mouse sent my in game character spinning in circles faster than a drill), the mouse had sensitivity options so even if the game you're playing doesn't have these options available you're still able to get a comfortable speed for your suiting. The mouse also comes with 2 extra, easily accessible buttons on the side - great for push to talk voice coms or other stuff you'd need access to very easily. Not long after purchasing this mouse it felt really natural to hold, which was a must for me considering my time spent at a computer - I've never had cramps or any pains in my hand caused by this mouse. It's great to control and if you ask me it's a perfect mouse. It's accurate, there's no input lag, it's extremely durable, and highly worth the money - don't waste your money on those stupid razer brands which would cost you more for less, trust me. My only (personal preference) downside to this mouse is the airbrush look to it - I find it really unattractive, but this isn't a dampener for me - If this mouse somehow broke, I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

First off, i have got to say, this is a right-handed mouse only, the features are designed solely for right handed users. Lefty's look elsewhere... OVERVIEW_ For me as a buyer, i rarely look at the five-star reviews. in general, they're mindless praise, they're un informative, and not thought out. i like people to give honest opinions on what they've bought, and let me know of what flaws i will run into if i buy this mouse myself. which is what i will fully intend to do, as i continue... DELIVERY_ my package came well on time, i was kept well informed of when my purchases should arrive, and they came bang in the middle of my three day window and in perfect condition. everything was well padded, i also ordered some PC speakers, so this padding i was very glad to see. i have come to expect knocks on product packaging as the products fumble through various warehouses, thrown onto vans, stacked and restacked as things are eternally moved around. but this was well and trully not the case, both products were like they'd been lifted off the production line. 5/5 ACCESSORIES_ the mouse comes with a drivers CD, a manual, and a usb to PS/2 adapter which is crucial if you have a shortage of USB ports, a case on many older PC's. it worked straight out of the box with no drivers needed. but i installed these just to be on the safe side. There was no bumph or twaddle, just everything you needed to get going. 5/5 APPEARANCE_ this is a silver and black mouse, the dark "spots" you see on the picture, are indeed on the mouse itself, they are not indents or grooves, the surface of the mouse is streamlined and smooth. they just comprise the inner stylings of the mouse. When i first came to look at the design in my hands, it really took me a long time to get used to, my initial reaction was "what were they thinking, these spots are in no obvious pattern, and in no way adding to the effect of this mouse" but then, first impressions are often wrong. i've now come to love the distinct quality of the mouse, the spots attract you to it, and they are so mouch more interesting than a plain solid colour that is on almost every other mouse on the market. they make it individual and unique.it makes you want to do something. 5/5 EASE OF USE_ where this mouse shines, it has a thumb groove on the left hand side, and the two buttons on the left are always very easy to click. i use the extra buttons daily for photo editing, and gaming, and just two more buttons at your fingertips makes all the difference. the mouse fits easily into an adult hand, the mouse is a good solid weight, and yet it glides smoothly over a mousemat. the sensitivity switches, are instantaneous, and again, extremely handy in photoediting, more-so than gaming, where i found changing sensitivity to be hightly offputting. 5/5 FAULTS_ the only faults i can see with this mouse, is that it cant be used, or at least, it would be very uncomforatable to use if you were left handed. the rest really is flawless. go buy one now!

and trust me i've been through alot. so lets get to the review shall we? ok first of its comfortable. if your right handed it sits perfectly in your hand, no problems what so ever, the slight rubberyness of the mouse means its easy to gip to so your not fumbling with your mouse all the time. Not only that but left handed people wont be having such a hard time with it either a close friend of mine, who is left handed, went out and bought one purly on the basis of using mine for 5 mins!! now that says alot if you ask me. buttons, well you have the left and right click, as every mouse does (unless your using a mac...) aswells as the basic scroll wheel. but then you have the application changerjust under the wheel which when pressed brings up a screen with all your running apps, cool huh? very handy if your using more than one screen. then there are four other buttons, two on the side which can be used as forwards and backwards buttons to navigate through your websites easyer insted of going right to the top of the page every time, and the last two which dont acctually do anything till you program them. Oh yeah sorry i forgot to mention, every single one of these buttons are customiseable so you can have it just the way you llike it when fragging n00bs in CS:S or just surfing the net. if you ask me, forget all the other more expensive mice out there. If you want a cheep(ish) stylish, customiseable mouse, get this, its handy no matter what your doing with it!!!

Nachtrag vom 02.03.2014: Wirklich faszinierend! Ich benutze immernoch genau dieselbe Maus, die ich mir damals hier bestellt habe und immernoch funktioniert sie tadellos. Alle Knöpfe funktionieren noch, wie sie sollen, ebenso das Mausrad. Originale Rezension: Ich habe mir vor gut 4 Wochen, aufgrund eines Defekts der alten Maus, diese optische Maus von Logitech zugelegt. Das Paket kam also mit der gewohnten Geschwindigkeit von DHL an (2 Werktage) und ich habe mich gleich daraufgestürzt, denn ohne Maus lässt sich so ein Computer eher beschwerlich bedienen. Der Karton, in dem die Maus war, war nicht sonderlich besonders. Er war einfach gehalten, auf das Wesentliche reduziert und stilecht im Logitech Window-Design, d.h. man weiß bereits vor dem Öffnen der Box, wie das Produkt aussieht. Also alles in allem einfach funktional, wie es sich für eine Verpackung ziemt. Aber ich bin nicht hier, um mich über die Verpackung auszulassen, also komme ich jetzt zum eigntlichen Kernpunkt dieser Rezension: Der Maus. Als ich die Maus also aus dem Karton befreit hatte, stellte ich erstmal erstaunt das niedrige Gewicht fest. Das freut den hektischen Spieler sicherlich, z.B. in solchen unübersichtlichen Massenkämpfen in Call of Duty. Der etwas ruhigere Spieler aber dürfte Probleme bekommen, wenn man mal eine ruhige Hand benötigt, z.B. als Scharfschütze. Aber es wäre keine Gaming Maus, wenn sie nur auf den Durchschnittsspieler zugeschnitten wäre, also hat sich Logitech hier etwas raffiniertes einfallen lassen. Mithilfe der beiden Drucktasten "+" und "-", jeweils ober- und unterhalb des Mausrades, lässt sich die Empfindlichkeit des Mauszeigers nach Belieben innerhalb des Spiels vergrößern oder verringern, je nach dem in welcher Situation man sich momentan befindet. Dass die Geschwindigkeit sich hier allerdings nur auf 3 wählbare Stufen begrenzt (Schnell, Normal, Langsam) stört nicht weiter, da man im mitgelieferten Programm die Empfindlichkeit manuell auf 11 Stufen regulieren kann. Ebenfalls kann man in diesem Programm jede Taste (bis auf die linke und rechte) manuell einstellen, die Bildlaufgeschwindigkeit festlegen (von 1 bis 6 Linien), SmartMove und Zeigerspuren aktivieren bzw. deaktivieren, Zeigerbeschleuning festlegen (Keine, Niedrig, Mittel, Hoch) und Spielmoduseinstellungen treffen (z.B. bestimmte Geschwindigkeiten für unterschiedliche Spiele oder Wechsel der Tastenbelegung pro Spiel). Dem verwöhnten Spieler sind also keine Grenzen gesetzt. Das Design des Programms ist hierbei, wie die Verpackung schlicht gehalten und verzichtet auf unnötigen Schnick-Schnack, wie Spezialeffekte, Überblendungen oder knallige Farben. Das Design der Maus dagegen ist recht... ungewöhnlich. Auf dem ersten Blick sieht es so aus, als würde sie Macken und Dellen haben, bis man merkt, dass das Absicht ist. Grundfarben sind hierbei Silber und Schwarz, bis auf die Spezialtasten, deren Symbole (nicht die ganzen Tasten!) in einem knalligen Orange erstrahlen. Sie werden nicht beleuchtet, allerdings sticht das Orange so ins Auge, dass man sie auch gar nicht beleuchten will. Das Mausrad ist dabei ebenfalls schlicht schwarz und es funktioniert einwandfrei. Das Design also, wie gesagt, gewöhnungsbedürftig. Aber wer achtet beim Spielen schon auf das Aussehen der Maus? Funktionieren soll sie. Und das tut sie. Mit Pauken und Trompeten.

J'achète la Logitech MX518 depuis de longues années pour jouer sur mon PC. Légère, je la transporte partout avec mon ordinateur portable et j'en garde une à la maison pour mon PC fixe. Les patins restent bien en place et quand bien même j'aurais un souci, le service client Logitech en renvoie sans problème ! J'en ai changé au bout de 4 ans non pas parce qu'elle ne fonctionnait pas, mais pour avoir l'édition spéciale BATMAN, c'est vous dire la qualité du produit ! Les boutons sont vraiment très pratiques : - molette agréable et plutôt silencieuse (avec le temps elle fait un peu de bruit il faut l'avouer) - boutons + et - pour changer la sensibilité sont extrêmement pratiques, car il faut bien dire que c'est agaçant de devoir ouvrir le panneau de configuration toutes les 5 minutes tester la sensibilité ou de changer ça dans les paramètres du jeu - boutons avant-arrière programmables, très utiles pour naviguer sur le web - bouton "fenêtres Windows" très pratique quand on a la flemme de faire Windows+tab ! Un produit qui dure dans le temps et qui n'a pas encore trouvé de remplaçant à mes yeux !

Hallo Gemeinde, ich halte mich kurz. Die MX518 ist für mich die beste Maus, die je gebaut wurde. Ich verwende das Vorgängermodell (mit 1600DPI) seit mehr als 5 Jahren. Sie funktioniert noch tadellos und zeigt keine Abnutzungserscheinungen, bis auf ein leichtes Glänzen durch den vielen Abrieb und eine leichte "Erschlaffung" der Rück- und linken Maustaste, durch die viele Nutzung. Die Maus ist bei mir von Photoshop bis CS:S im Einsatz, vom Internet bis zum Dateimanagement. Allen Anforderungen wird / wurde sie stets gerecht. Also habe ich mir gedacht, bevor sie nicht mehr produziert wird (was hoffentlich niemals eintritt :D), kaufe ich mir mal die MX518 1800DPI aufs Lager, nur so zur Sicherheit :D Ausgepackt angeschaut ... 1:1 die alte, nur mit verbesserter Technik und natürlich neuer Software :) Die MX518 zeichnet sich durch sehr schnelle Reaktionen und, wie geschrieben, lange Haltbarkeit aus. Die >5 Jahre waren mit einer Durchschnittsnutzung von ca. 20-40 Std. pro Woche, also ø 3Std. am Tag. Dabei kamen häufige Klicks vom Schießen ebenso wie viele Klicks beim Bilder bearbeiten vor, wodurch ich eigentlich die auf der Verpackung angegebenen 10 Millionen Klicks bald voll haben sollte :D Die Maus liegt sehr gut in der Hand, sie ist ergonomisch für Rechtshänder geformt, doch kann man sie auch mit ein bisschen Übung als Linkshänder benutzen. Sie hat eine Vor- und eine Rücktaste, die mit dem Daumen gut erreichbar sind, vor allem beim Browsen sehr angenehm, sowie eine DPI-höher und eine DPI-niedriger Taste, die ober- bzw. unterhalb des Mausrads angebracht sind. Das Mausrad ich recht einfach gestaltet, dafür umso haltbarer. Es hat die gewöhnliche Y-Achse (rauf/runter) sowie eine Klick-Möglichkeit ("mittlere Mausaste"). Hinzu kommt eine weitere Taste unterhalb der DPI-lower-Taste, welche in der Standardkonfiguration den Fenster-Switch-Modus von Windows aktiviert. Für den Daumen gibt es unterhalb der Vor-/Rücktaste eine Ablage, auf welcher er auch bei langen Sessions gut "ruhen" kann. Eine solche Ablage fehlt zwar für den kleinen Finger, doch habe ich sie noch nie vermisst :) Ebenso mögen manche die bei der G500/G5/G9/G9x vorhandene DPI-Anzeige vermissen, welche einen über die aktuelle Auflösung der Maus informiert. Doch habe ich auch diese in den letzten Jahren wenig vermisst. Denn ist man mal ehrlich: Wann schaut man in einem hitzigen Gefecht nach der DPI-Zahl ? Wenn man sich mal ver-DPI-t, kann man einfach auf Min/Max stellen und von da die Schritte auf eine gewünschte Auflösung klicken :) Alles in allem, eine sehr gelungene Maus, die ich mir immer wieder und wieder kaufen würde. Sie hat auch einen würdigen Nachfolger erhalten (die Logitech G400), welche mit ein paar neuen Funktionen und einer empfindlicheren Optik ausgestattet ist. Die Wahl zwischen beiden liegt beim User, doch sind beide Mäuse empfehlenswert und für mich die No. 1 in allen Bereichen! Ich hoffe, trotz der Kürze konntet ihr einen Einblick erhalten. Bonjour, Ma MX 510 faisant des siennes, j'ai décidé de changer de souris. Étant très satisfait de la 510 j'ai naturellement pris la 518. Si vous avez un modèle antérieur à la 518 vous serez ravis de ce nouveau modèle. Me concernant, je la trouve très bien pour un usage quotidien qui comprend, navigation sur internet et jeux (FPS et STR). il y a deux petites boutons sur le dessus de chaque coté de la molette (un + et un-) qui servent à changer instantanément la vitesse de déplacement du curseur. Que se soit sur le bureau ou dans un jeu. un petit logiciel inclue avec la souris permet de peaufiner cette sensibilité. Vous l'aurez donc compris, je recommande cette souris qui je trouve, a un très bon compromis qualité, prix. Cordialement,

faccio questa recensione doipo 5 anni che ho questo mouse,lo sto usando tuttora ed è ancora perfettamente funzionante,maltrattato non poco in questi anni e mai dato un problema,veramente un ottimo prodotto,se dovesse capitare di poterlo acquistare non poensateci e prendetelo al volo,prodotti così buoni per durare nel tempo ormai non li fanno più.
