Can this be waterproofed, painted or stained to use outdoor during the summer?

Not indtendedf for outdoor without a lot of mainteance. I use it as an endpiece to my wall awming that doesn't extend the fu;ll lenght of patio. Although its in good condition after 8 months outside, I'll eventually weatherproof. NOTE: I live in low desert climate so the patio is exposed to afternoon sun, <5in annual rainfall, and protracted from wind by brick walll. Per another oomment, it won't stand-up to wind so tie it down. High winds, I retract the awming and remove the dividen.

It was longer (width) than I expected and pretty good, stands firmly without wobbling and decent construction... only issue (not entirely major for me but maybe for others) is that it's a few shades lighter than what you see advertised
