Fire Tower Board Game Standard Edition

My friends and I really enjoyed this game. It’s really easy to teach others in under a minute. Encourages both cooperative and competitive as you switch alliances from turn to turn trying to blow the fire to other towers

I didn't realize how much fun this game would be when I purchased it! My boys and I have played a few times since Christmas (when they received it), and it's a hit! My family consists of all adults, but I could see this being played with older children. This is a game where you are playing "head-to-head" against other players. It is not a points-based game. Winning happens by eliminating other players. The object of the game is to burn your opponents' towers before they burn yours. There is an "ever flame" in the center of the board that can never go out. Each turn consists of 1) expanding the fire by 1 square in the direction of the wind, 2) playing a card, or discarding any number of cards, then 3) drawing back up to hand size (usually 5). Cards can be attack-based (causing more fire to appear), defense-based (clearing fire with water, or putting up a block), or control-based (changing the direction of the wind). In 3 or 4-player games, when a tower is burned, if there are still 2 players active, the "burned" players can stay engaged in the game after "elimination". They become "spirit of the woods" players and seek to destroy all the non-eliminated players through a fixed set of actions. If the spirits can eliminate the live players before the live players get another turn, they win! The playtime of the game is pretty fast. If all the players have played once before, turns go quickly. There are not an abundance of choices during a turn, which speeds up decision time. One of my family members can get decision paralysis, but that has not yet happened in this game. Overall, I feel the rules are very thought-out.
