It was OK
Not as good as her 'Better than the Movies' series but still a sweet enough Rom-Com book to escape in. Written in duel narrative which is great because books in the romance are always usually from the female perspective. I just wish it switched perspectives every chapter instead of every few. I would have liked to have read more from Charlie's perspective to explain his behaviour better. Painter also writes beautifully from a male perspective in 'Nothing like the Movies' which adds a richness and depth to the Wes.

So cute, so funny and so.. realistic.
That book just pure happiness. So cute, so funny and so.. realistic. Life doesn't always has "happily ever after" and magically acceptance of new reality, and books that usually put that in their end make it unrealistically sweet. But this book โ this book feels more real life than anything, and I love it

Iโm a sucker for strangers to friends to lovers and this DELIVERED. i was so happy that it was dual pov!!! their friendship was so built up, they really knew everything about eachother and when charlie called them โfriendsโ I GRINNED. the roadtrip was for sure my favourite part!!! i loved that they worked together too! charlie had such sarcastic dry humor and he was so funny ๐ญ๐ซถ๐ผ i liked that she was like relatable in the things she liked, such as having a bookstagram, listening to Taylor swift, reading books, without it being over the top or overly quirky. seeing bailey navigate her feeling towards her mums new relationship and troubles with her dad was great too. i liked that charlie was a part of that too. AND HES A CAT DAD ๐ฎโ๐จ the only thing that stopped it being 5 stars was the third act break up. other than that it was so much fun. loved her best friend too!

Betting on You by Lynn Painter
"Betting on You" by Lynn Painter is a charming and witty contemporary romance novel that is sure to captivate readers who enjoy heartfelt stories with plenty of humor, emotional depth, and a touch of competition. This book is a perfect blend of lighthearted romance and character growth, with a refreshing plot that keeps the reader engaged from start to finish. Plot & Storyline The story follows the two protagonists, who are caught up in a lighthearted bet that eventually evolves into something more meaningful. The bet is the catalyst that brings the characters together, and as they interact and spend time getting to know each other, their chemistry begins to blossom. The book is filled with the right amount of tension, humor, and tender moments that gradually turn their rivalry into a blossoming romance. The plot offers a delightful mix of comedic moments and emotional growth. The bet serves as the backdrop for exploring the charactersโ deeper struggles, and as they evolve over the course of the novel, the reader is drawn into their personal journeys and transformation. Characters & Development Lynn Painter does an excellent job of creating relatable and endearing characters. The heroine is witty, independent, and strong, while the hero is charming and, at times, frustrating in his competitive nature. Their back-and-forth banter, along with the way they learn to understand each other, makes their relationship dynamic fun to watch. Both characters experience significant personal growth, and their emotional arcs are just as compelling as their romantic one. The slow-burn romance is satisfying to watch unfold, and the characters' struggles and vulnerabilities feel genuine, making the ending feel earned and heartwarming. Writing Style & Tone Painter's writing style is playful, engaging, and full of heart. Her prose is full of wit, and the tone of the book strikes a perfect balance between lightheartedness and emotional depth. The dialogue is snappy and fun, with lots of humor, but the author also takes time to explore the charactersโ deeper emotional layers. This combination of humor and vulnerability makes for a well-rounded, enjoyable read. Themes "Betting on You" explores themes of personal growth, taking risks, and overcoming insecurities. The bet is more than just a competitionโit becomes a way for the characters to learn more about themselves, face their fears, and ultimately take a chance on love. The book also delves into themes of trust, vulnerability, and letting go of past fears in order to embrace new opportunities. Potential Considerations While the book is enjoyable and fast-paced, some readers may find certain plot points predictable, especially if they are familiar with the enemies-to-lovers or bet-based romance tropes. However, the charm of the characters and the engaging writing style more than make up for this.
