Its great for beginners and for those who need a refresher

Avoid
It just describes how the systems work, in my opinion it doesn't teach you any repairs, you'll get this info in any other repair book you get, i would not recommend you waste money on it

Great intro and reference material for a First-Time Home Buyer
I'm a recent first-time home buyer and had my HVAC fail on me this past summer. I got quoted WAY WAY higher than I was expecting and have been avoiding the repair by using window units for AC and now space heaters in the winter. I wanted to get a better idea of what's involved in my HVAC system before dropping literally 100 times the price of my current alternative solutions on a proper repair. This book provided me with a firm understanding of terminology and clearly outlines the system parts by way of chapter intros describing what terminology will be covered in the upcoming section and then (the bulk of the book) the various parts/terms along with a definition of each. Feeling completely new to the topic, this was exactly the type of guide I was looking for.The book is very well laid out and it is easy to jump between chapters any time a section needs to be re-read or referenced. The handful of pictures are great! A lot of clear information about airflow and system setup is condensed into fun minimal and easy to understand chapter intro images. After reading this book, does it mean I can avoid the high fees on my own repair now? Probably not. But I at least appreciate where the money is going and how my system functions. I'll also hopefully be able to better understand the repair person when I have them come back and give me a new quote. When they first showed up, I really couldn't have told them the difference between a radiator and a condenser and I think they may have taken liberties in their estimates since they knew I don't know anything.Great book and I will be safely storing it along with my other "Welcome to your new home" books for future reference.

Good 1st read on HVAC Systems
If you are completely new to HVAC systems and theories, this is a good starting point. The author has put in some time researching and writing, although I get the sense they are not an HVAC professional themselves. The book has some nice looking illustrations, but some real-world photos would definitely be helpful to get a firmer grasp on some of the equipment. I was hoping for some elaborate depictions of the components in a heat pump/furnace, but as the title says, it's for beginners. Would recommend for a newbie or somebody interested in a quick read on the world of HVAC systems.
