Good swimming headphones
I read all of the reviews, including the 1-star reviews. I was a little nervous purchasing these headphones. I bought them for when I was swimming laps in an indoor pool, since doing it in silence was very boring. I personally love these headphones. The Bluetooth will not work when the headphones are underwater, but I am married to a tech nerd, and he informed me I can legally use a website to make YouTube videos into an MP3 file by copying the URL over and downloading them to my PC then adding them to the headphones. I use these while swimming in MP3 mode the Bluetooth works great outside of the water, and I am very aware of my surroundings even when playing music at full volume. When wearing a swim cap. I find the headphones comfortable, I just leave my ears out because I don't want my hair to get wet, but this is not an issue because Shockz has provides ear plugs, and I wear them when I swim. I like the fit of these headphones, and there is a little extra room behind my head, which is good for me because it makes them extremely easy to wear. The headphones feel very durable and good quality, along with the sound quality being don't expect them to be noise canceling, but the sound quality is good for what they are.

These are amazing
I just started getting back into swimming. I had the Swimp3 players 15 years ago that made swimming a lot less dull and was looking for whatever the new version of that was. These are better for a host of reasons. First, they stay in place pretty darn well. My old mp3 player was bulky on the side of my goggle strap, and if I did butterfly, they would fling around and I had to stop to fix them. These stay put just fine, even when I jumped in the water from the pool deck. It does feel a little weird to put these on and then to put my cap over the ear part (I can't have my ears out of my cap entirely or it would pop off and/or drive me nuts), but I sort of got used to it. There were some times that I had to tug down the sides of my cap over my ears because it was riding up, but that may have been unrelated to this device. The back of the neck portion stayed outside my cap the whole time and if it moved around at all, I didn't notice it. These are also plenty loud. I had to click them down a few notches from the max volume to be a comfy listening volume. I didn't use the earplugs, but had no problem hearing them clearly, whether or not my head was underwater. With my old mp3 player, I could hear them somewhat even when they weren't on my face. I could tell that some other people could hear it somewhat, too, since I got some funny looks when my music started playing. But with these Shokz, it didn't seem like anyone else could hear them. It is annoying to me that there isn't more playlist control (song order, etc.) and that there's no way to transmit tunes via bluetooth from my phone directly to the device. But I will say that the magnetic USB charging/data cable is pretty slick. It clicked on so easily that I didn't even think it was really plugged in until I saw the light and it auto-opened the file window on my computer. One thing I was really happy about is that it can play M4A files, no problem. I was worried that I'd have to do some lame mp3 conversion to get them to play, but I didn't. I just made a playlist in iTunes (all individually purchased music) and copy/pasted into the file window for the Shokz. Room for improvement in future models? Sure. But for now, this is a HUGE upgrade over my 15-year-old version and it works well enough for me to be very happy with them.

Great headphones if you need waterproof and open ears
Bought these for my wife after getting a set of the open run for myself. After trying them at the local aquatics center, she decided that she wanted a different set that go in the ear. This was personal preference. Our aquatics center is indoors and so it is very noisy, but you don’t tend to notice. She decided she liked in the ear buds for this location because the do block sound. I took them and used them. They get plenty load for me and I enjoyed them even in the aquatics center, but I did notice when listening to music outside, I was able to hear it very clearly until I entered the aquatics center. In the aquatics center I could hear well enough after taking the volume to about 3/4. Later I found my wife had “appropriated” the headphones for when she does yard work. Summary: if you want waterproof headphones that are open ear (very easy to hear surroundings) and don’t want to have the noise isolation of in ear buds, then these are for you. They don’t have the strongest bass, but I was happy with the sound quality and comfort.

Buy a cheap usb-a to usb-c converter
First, the bad: I hate the app! The app is necessary to switch to swimming mode, and uploaded music plays in shuffle or sequential mode only. No playlists. Quickly pressing the button 2 or 3 times makes it skip to the next song or go back, so you do have some control over what's playing while swimming. The app doesn't let me see the uploaded songs at all. I can see and order the files when it's connected to my computer. Connecting to a Mac requires a cheap usb-a to usb-c converter since the cord only comes in usb-a. I wish I could upload audio via Bluetooth. The good: Well made! I've had mine since June 2024, and use them every single day. I've fallen asleep wearing them. They're very good for walking in public because it's just safer to not cancel noise when walking around the world. The sound is good. Plus, it's nice to be able to talk to someone and keep my music playing. I swim with them in the summer at a lake. They stay on my head well, though I wouldn't try to jump in with them. Since lake water is not clear, I wish it had something to attach it to me, like a lanyard, in case it got loose, but so far no problems. I've been able to listen using Bluetooth in the water as long as my phone is within 30 feet. Even with their issues, these are 5 stars because they've held up for years and have made swimming so much more fun. I use these more than my car.

These are absolutly great for activity, I don't like having buds in my ears and these stay on while running. Sound is good considering nothing in the ear. I have no intention to swim with them so no comment there. Recomend for active use.
