As a DIY mechanic (as often as possible), i am very happy with the purchase of this VIDENT iSmartDiag510PRO Wireless OBD2 Scanner. As someone who keeps my cars for a long time and does as much work as possible myself, the ability not only read, but also to perform bidirectional function resets was the reason i chose this product. I went with the PRO model for its 28 resets to give me more options when servicing my vehicles. Also, the availability of future updates without any subscription fees, which can make a scanner unaffordable to the casual home use, means that this scanner will support other cars i may own or work on in the future. Setting up the scanner for first time use was very straightforward. After downloading the iSmartDiag from Google Play Store, then downloaded the appropriate datasets for my car models from VIADENT made the blutooth connection from the car to my phone. The setup interface walked me through each step and in a matter of minutes i was able to perform a full diagnostic scan of the car (Honda Pilot). I tested this on my other two vehicles; cars (Honda CRV, and Volvo S80). I had no problems using it on any of the three vehicles and it reliably read the make, model, and VIN of each vehicle. At the end of each scan, the results for each module tested were displayed and I really appreciated the ability to email the scan report to myself (or a friend, or mechanic if needed) to research the problem further at a later time if needed. Following an oil change, the bi-directional capabilities to allow me to reset my oil light. Going forward, i found that the scanner will allow me to perform these other resets when needed: Honda Pilot & CRV: • Oil service light reset • Brake pad replacement • ABS bleeding • Electronic throttle sensor (TPS) reset • Tire pressure sensor (TPMS) reset • Injector coding Volvo S80: • Oil service light reset • Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) reset • Electronic throttle sensor (TPS) reset • Injector coding Being newer cars, the scans of both Honda’s didn’t return any result; however, several ‘hidden’ (no warning light on the dashboard) on the older 2004 Volvo S80. Rather than sit in the hot car, I appreciated the convenience of being able to email the status report to myself to research at a more convenient time to determine if these are ‘non-issues’, or something that may warrant further investigation. I am happy with my purchase of this scan tool. I like the small form factor that allows me to keep it handy in my primary driver, or take on trips and let me know if an unexpected warning light needs attention sooner rather than later. Also, great peace of mind for those times when I do have to take one of the cars to a 'real' mechanic. The ease of operation, useful bidirectional features (which will more than pay for the cost of this tool!), and ongoing updates were the reasons I chose this tool. What else can be said. It has birectional control capabilities and can read all systems. It's really easy to set up. Took me less than a minute. That said it doesn't necessarily have all the functions as your full dedicated scanner. But the ability to turn your everyday phone or tablet into a professional scanner, Bravo 👏 The reason why he gets four stars. For some reason the BMW module will not install. I don't know what that's about. But it's clearly a glitch of some sort.

I've spent about 2 hours installing updates, clearing the cache & data, reinstalling the app but the only options I get is to connect to A BMW, Mini or Rolls Royce. It does work well diagnosing my BMW, but it's supposed to work on hundreds of brands.........I got 3! Customer service through the app is non existent and the email they give you is invalid.

I tested this Vident iSmartDiag510 Pro OBDII Scanner all day today on multiple cars. This Scanner is a beast to only be a little over $100. It does more than my $300 scanner. For starters it checks for codes in all systems of a vehicle that the vehicle allows it to check for (Some cars allow access to more systems). It has 28+ Special Functions including BMS, Window/Door Initialization, and my favorite Key Fob Programming. There isn't many Scanners in this price range with the Key Fob Programming function. My $300 scanner doesn't even have it. It's also Bidirectional and gives the ability to test all relays and control Windows, Headlights, Fuel Pump, Horn, and many more parts on a vehicle. It offers fast free lifetime updates for all cars and downloads as fast as your phone will let it. Download the app to your phone, setup and activate it, Bluetooth to the scanner, download the special functions and the updates for your vehicles, and then your good to go. It connects easily after that first connection which is easy to begin with. This is the best value for the money and it doesn't get much better than this for this price range. I highly recommend this OBDII Scanner and would put it up against any other Scanner in this price range any day. Try it!!!

Al in all it's a good tool but I think ur just paying for the name and a few of the functions bc it does do a lot but it's just another diag tool that does what most the others do without any real specifics that make it special

Once I figured out how to connect to my phone things were very intuitive and easy to use. The information in the instructions guided me through the connection process. After I had all the necessary software installed on my iPhone it was ready to rock! It connected to my Lexus and automatically read the VIN. I was totally blown away by the performance expecting it to be much slower for the economical price paid. The plastic felt of high quality and durable construction. I liked the LED also which was bright and changed color to indicate status. I was amazed by the bidirectional control capabilities performing many of the same functions as my other $1000 scan tool. Compact design is easy to have in the glove box just in case it’s needed.
