Crumbs is set against the background of spectacular post-apocalyptic Ethiopian landscapes, where the film finds a strange-looking scrap collector, Gagano (played by the charismatic Daniel Tadesse). Alternately gripped by daydreams and constant fears, the diminutive Gagano has had enough of collecting the priceless crumbs of decayed civilization, including the most valuable: merchandise from Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan. When a spaceship that has been hovering high in the sky for years starts showing signs of activity, Gagano has to overcome his fears as well as a witch, Santa Claus and second-generation Nazis to discover things aren't quite the way he thought. Bonus Features, include: Two short films by Miguel Llansó - Chigger Ale and Night in the Wild Garden; as well as Crumbs anecdotes. To me it is an interpretation of traditional fairy tales, where a protagonist seeks "something" and has to go through various troubles to reach the people with the answers and powers. I don't want to give away more than that. It's great to be able to watch this online, and it is also great to find movies like this to get away from the usual Hollywood claptrap. Review: A Uniquely Original Vision - One of the best films I've seen in 2015 -- and certainly the sweetest -- "Crumbs" somehow manages to weave unique Urbex-inspired photography with a handful of amazingly sincere actors into a completely original romantic sci-fi movie. The films "Crumbs" reminds me of most are "Beasts of the Southern Wild" and "Save the Green Planet," both of which are very unique films that defy comparisons. "Crumbs" doesn't answer all the questions it poses, but it doesn't have to. It's the type of film that works best when you give yourself over to the narrative and let it guide you where it wants you to go.

It Has Imagination, That's For Sure
This is a film about the search for Santa Clause. No, really: the protagonist is searching for Santa Claus because, an unspecified time since "they" arrived, the spaceship has re-awakened and he and his wife want Santa Claus to grant their wish: tickets so they can go back home. It may be a bit confusing, despite the initial explanation, as you still just start in the middle of it all. Still, it works. And works well.

A daring and surprisingly elegant conversation starter on the Afro-futurist movement.
Resplendent in its originality, CRUMBS offer a new take on the dystopian film by placing the apocalypse in contemporary Ethiopia. As it asks us to reposition our view on globalism and American imperialism (the film features zany artefacts such as Michael Jordan posters worshipped at shrines, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures as talisman) it also asks us to ponder the current Africa and its future. What is Afro-futurism, in any case, and what does science fiction hold for the continent and vice versa? Though not a compendium of all things Afro-futurist, CRUMBS (directed by creative powerhouse -and spaniard - Miguel LLanso) is a daring and surprisingly elegant conversation starter on the subject.
