Banister written a good description of the bookbinding process. The book itself is a Dover re-print of the original and the quality is moderate with poor images. However, Banister begins by describing the perfect tools, which you may want if you are going into business, but hobby tools can be made at home or purchased. He then goes on to describe the binding and sewing process in good detail, so the illustrations are secondary (in my opinion) because his description does the work. Later on he describes sewing on cords and sewing on tapes, and then rounding and backing. Toward the end of the book he describes sewing headbands, but there are better descriptions around of this process, and better video-clips online. Headband sewing is not the easiest process until you have done one or two. All round, a good book for the beginner and a few good tips for the more experienced binder.

Good book

This book is excellent value, clear concise with information on how to make book binding tools inexpesively. All the basic bindinf techniques are covered. I have several books on this theme that were far more expensive and are more difficult to follow
