As recommended by Meghan Markle as the one book she can't wait to share with her child - the timeless fable about the gift of love Once there was a little tree ... and she loved a little boy. So begins the classic bestseller, beautifully written and illustrated by the gifted and versatile Shel Silverstein. Every day the boy would come to the tree to eat her apples, swing from her branches, or slide down her trunk ... and the tree was happy. But as the boy grew older he began to want more from the tree, and the tree gave and gave and gave. This is a tender story, touched with sadness, aglow with consolation. Shel Silverstein has created a moving parable for readers of all ages that offers an affecting interpretation of the gift of giving and a serene acceptance of another's capacity to love in return. Book review
Book is good, nicely binded and printed. I would suggest publisher to use the pages wisely. There are multiple plank pages at the beginning and ending which is a waste considering saving our environment these extra blank pages could have avoided. Over book and story both are very good for kids.

Beautiful - makes you wonder.
The cover may seem like it is something which is meant to be read in bedtime for kids. But as the boy in this book changes, the view of people from different age groups also changes. I don't quite understand of what age group does this book entail for. On one hand, it is beautiful and heartwarming in a child's perspective and on the other hand, it is thought provoking from an adult's perspective. I was stunned when the book ended and was speechless for a few minutes just pondering about people. It may seem like I'm over exaggerating but trust me, if you read this, and think correctly, you'll be speechless for hours and this book *WONT LEAVE YOUR HEAD*

The best children's books are the ones you also enjoy as an adult
Writing a great children's book, specially for the ages where the adult is the one doing most of the reading, is hard. Either the book is too complicated for the child to understand or too boring or direct for the adult. This is one of those classics where both the child and the adult reader are going to finish the book and think about what they just read. The book goes through the life of a tree and a kid that are forever connected, through what they give to each other. Its a beautiful tale about what is really important in life, something many adults forget as they grow older and work drives everything they do. You can connect a lot of what is in the book with the malaises we see in the world today, so even if it was written over 60 years ago, we're still facing the same issues. All this is written in a way that is easy and simple for the child to understand, with short dialogs, beautiful art and just enough pages to be a great bedtime read. I always love when I get to enjoy the books I read to my kids as much or even more than they do and this is one of those, recommended!

A philosophical, emotional and emblematic book for children up to the age of Eighty +!โฆ
All of my four children were brought up from an early age with "The Giving Tree", this iconic book about selfishness, compassion, love and ultimate detachment. This awesome and hugely didactic book left such a mark on all four of them that today as grownups they look back on it as much as a childhood landmark as a literary and artistic jewel to pass on with care to their own children.
