I mounted it outside by the entrance, and its IP65 waterproof rating gives me peace of mind knowing it can handle rain and other harsh weather conditions. This feels like a high quality package that you would expect from this brand but the connectivity has been problematic. I have a similar camera from another brand which requires a subscription for the AI capability so I figured this would be cheaper long term. Sometimes it seems great and other times it's ridiculous. When I first set it up it was very random as to whether I could pull up the video stream. I would try killing the app and other troubleshooting but it was really inconsistent, even when 10 ft from the wireless access point. Since moving it outside, and further from the AP, it has become more consistent in pulling up the video stream. However I've noticed that it doesn't always save the settings, even when it seem to say it did. This is really important considering the difference between recording 'event only' vs 'pre-event' is a battery life of days vs hours. You just can't use 'pre-event' unless plugged into the wall in my experience. The solar is not enough. In 'event only' it seems the solar can maintain a 100% charge but has an extremely tough time recharging if the battery has completely run out. Somehow in 'pre-event' recording I got tons and tons of false alerts. It always said it detected a Human but it was a completely static scene which does not get nearly the alerts when in 'event only'. I wouldn't think that setting would impact the alerts but somehow it seems to. 'Pre-event' is already horrific on the battery so endless events makes it even worse. On the plus side the mount is pretty nice and makes it easy to pop out the camera if you want to plug it in. The petals give a lot of options for aiming the camera without covering the charging port but you might want to ensure that before attaching to a wall. The opening for the USB C cable fits very snugly and I can't imagine it would let water through. The alerts seem to hit my phone pretty fast and it seems to record as soon as the PIR is triggered. Because it uses a PIR sensor and doesn't constantly analyze the video stream you might seem to miss the start of the action but this is also the reason the battery can last so long. So, it's a decent unit that in my opinion needs some app refinements. Don't tell me you saved my setting of 'event only' recording only to send me battery warnings in the middle of the night because it didn't actually save the setting. However I would say once you get something like this setup you probably aren't going to be constantly changing the settings. So once you have it they way you want it should be good.

As my first camera in the SwitchBot ecosystem, it’s been a pleasant surprise, as I was a bit skeptical of trying out a camera here. If you’re familiar with SwitchBot, you know it’s a bit of a tinkerer’s ecosystem, but once everything is set up, it tends to pay off in terms of functionality over time. The camera is as easy (or difficult) as any to install, either the typical multiple mounting options, generally screws or adhesive. The real beauty of this is the solar panel: which allows this to stay charged year-round and a huge convenience over other methods of power. Plus: this thing integrates perfectly into my SwitchBot ecosystem, as I pair it with the Hub 2 (sold separately) and take advantages of the BLE (Bluetooth low energy) mesh that I have going. Plus, I use a micro SD card which is great for local storage to avoid cloud fees (or as a supplement to the cloud storage). Having a 10,000mAh battery is nice, though, as with any battery camera, once you start continuous recording, you really need continuous power. The image quality is good enough for me, though nothing to brag about considering the any 2K cameras out there. It shines in daytime and with spotlight vision at night, with the infrared mode being a tad grainy. As a mostly plastic build camera, I can’t say it’s the sturdiest, but it’s in line with what I’ve experienced from other cameras so I don’t think this is a reason to doing its utility. I think that for folks who are really looking for something to use is intensely harsh environments or who need to rely on one of these for extremely high-security situations, maybe look into a full-blown security system. But given that this is marketed I then same way as most of these add-on cameras, I think this is a great step into the camera world for SwitchBot. Perhaps it’s a bit of an underdeveloped interface than others that are solely focused on cameras, but it’s not really any more or less reliable than any other wi-fi/bluetooth cameras, while still packing in a bunch of functionality. This SwitchBot wireless security camera is decent. Build quality is decent and the image quality is okay. If you are already in the SwitchBot system this might be a 4 or 5 for you. As a stand alone, I didn’t see the value in it and I didn’t like having to use two different systems. What I do love about it is the internal recording. Response time is decent almost comparable to Ring. Lastly, I’m not a fan of the shape. One star removed for app latency for viewing camera and another star for the design.

I've tried out several solar powered high resolution cameras in the past few months. The one consistent theme is that camera technology has definitely progressed over the last few years. I had an early Netgear Arlo set up that was pretty nice but only 720p resolution and quite expensive. This switchbot camera has a nice form factor and is easy to mount. Its performance matches the performance of most of the other 2K cameras I have recently tried out. The solar panel is a nice addition as well. I didn't find camera performance to be anything other than the standard both in daylight and at night time. Pretty much all security cameras have two way communication now as well so that's not really a standout feature here compared to the competition either. What it really comes down to is if you already have switchbot products and want to use their app.

As I mentioned in my headline this is a pretty nice little kit that is not very difficult to install. That said, I think I'm going to need to get an extension cord for the solar panel because it is in sunlight throughout the day, but gets blocked by tree shadows and it has run out of juice a couple of times when the days were overcast consecutively. I'm sure if I mounted the solar panel at a better position to capture more light it would be lasting longer, but the cord just isn't long enough for where I need the camera to be. Overall it's pretty nice, but Justin sure that it is going to get enough sunlight if you're depending on the solar panel for the sole source of power.

C’est un super produit, mais il y a un petit souci. Quand on a plusieurs caméras et qu’on met à jour une, l’application ne propose plus les mises à jour pour les autres. J’ai cherché partout, mais je n’ai pas trouvé de solution. C’est un peu embêtant parce que quand on les met en route et qu’on les regarde à distance, ça active une notification.

Il primo pensiero è “Accidenti, mancherà qualcosa” ed invece Switchbot è riuscita a mettere tutto il necessario in pochissimo spazio evitando sprechi di carta/plastica e semplificando il trasporto. In confezione troverete la camera, la base a cui agganciarla, il pannello solare con cavo incorporato, il montante del pannello solare, il manuale utente, un pacco accessori per la camera ed uno per il pannello solare (in entrambi troverete viti, fisher e dime per il montaggio a muro) oltre ad un cavo usb type c per l’eventuale ricarica laddove non doveste utilizzare il pannello solare. Come sempre, in poco spazio una dotazione super! [ ESTETICA E QUALITA’ COSTRUTTIVA ] : 5/5 Estetica curatissima. Ho il vecchio modello 1080p, ed ho acquistato questo per il secondo balcone di casa…devo dire che mi sembrano esteticamente quasi identici sebbene il core sia differente e riesca a sorprendere l’upgrade qualitativo nel funzionamento. I dettagli estetici e costruttivi sono davvero impressionanti. Tralasciando il solito colore bianco che reputo azzeccatissimo per le case moderne e la solidità/qualità costruttiva del pannello solare (non il solito pannellino incluso dai brand meno premium, ma molto piu grande e robusto con tanto di supporto solido e snodabile), le vere chicche sono riscontrabili nel corpo camera. Innanzi tutto la forma sferica, abbinata al supporto ad incastro, fa si che si possa raggiungere qualsiasi inclinazione (sia verticale che orizzontale) senza dover spostare la videocamera e rende possibile il cambio di posizione della telecamera con una semplicità pazzesca, senza nessun cacciavite né strumenti, basta fare un pò di forza ed il corpo videocamera si staccherà dal supporto. Resta comunque solidissimo il supporto, infatti anche con vento forte la videocamera resta ancorata al suo interno. Giusto per mio scrupolo (e consiglio sempre di farlo per evitare qualsiasi rischio) ho fascettato supporto e videocamera dopo aver raggiunto la perfetta inclinazione, così da rendere impossibile la caduta della videocamera su strada. Infine, dato che si tratta di una videocamera da esterno, è tanto indispensabile quanto accurata la scelta di coprire con un plug gommato il reparto che include bottone di reset, switch di accensione e spegnimento, luce di indicazione ricarica, slot microSD e Type-C. Esteticamente gradevole anche il frontale, “vetrato” con fondo nero, su cui sono disposti in maniera esteticamente molto curata (centrati ed equidistanti a formare una croce) il pir e l’ottica sulla verticale e Spotlights, microfono, sensore di luce e indicatore led sull’orizzontale. Ho trovato tutto perfetto! [ FUNZIONAMENTO ] : 5/5 Come sempre, massima semplicità di installazione e funzionamento! Montaggio e prima configurazione sono davvero troppo semplici per descriverli, basterà seguire il wizard in app ed in un minuto avrete tutto up&running. Mi soffermerei, piuttosto, sul funzionamento eccellente sia in termini qualitativi che a livello di features. Fluidità ottima, risoluzione eccellente (la camera 1080p sgranava leggermente, la visione in 2k è molto più dettagliata), Motion detection stratosferico (devo spesso ridurre la sensibilità per non ritrovarmi con troppe notifiche) ed anche l’AI Human/Animal Alerts funziona bene distinguendo tra umani ed animali (nel mio caso mi aiuta molto data la presenza di uccelli). Nota di merito per la visione notturna che è molto soddisfacente sia a colori che in bianco e nero. Infine apprezzatissimi l’allarme di “smantellamento” che suona quando si rimuove la videocamera dalla base, la gestione dell’integrazione con alexa/google che è tanto semplice quanto efficace ed il “privacy mode” che permette di spegnere ed accendere la videocamera da remoto (anche tramite scenario) senza azionare manualmente lo switch. Una videocamera da esterno con pannello solare incluso che rasenta la perfezione, ad un prezzo competitivo. Ottimo direi! [ INNOVAZIONE ] : 5/5 Ormai parlare di innovazione è sempre più difficile. Tutto è stato già pensato/realizzato o quasi. Di fatto è una innovazione importante rispetto al modello da 1080p e con la nuova risoluzione 2K ed una fluidità che mi sembra migliorata, la resa è decisamente più soddisfacente. Probabilmente la vera innovazione sta nella nuova modalità di gestione della batteria grazie al fatto che questa videocamera(così come tutti i devices switchbot ora), con aggiornamento firmware, può essere gestita anche attraverso l’hub più vicino ad essa (in automatico, senza necessità di indicare l’hub preferito) e non solo direttamente tramite il ricevitore wifi incorporato. Direi un upgrade di non poco conto per chi deciderà di acquistare il prodotto senza pannello solare. Per farvi una idea di quali siano le distanze tra ogni hub che avete in casa ed i singoli devices, potete andare sull’app switchbot, sezione “profilo”, sottosezione “gestisci gli hub” ed avrete la lista dei gli hub. Cliccando su ognuno di esso, troverete la lista dei devices che riesce a raggiungere con tanto di indicazione sulla qualità del segnale bluetooth. [QUALITA/PREZZO] : 5/5 Il prezzo lancio è 139 ma con lo sconto, praticamente semi-fisso, lo si porta a casa a meno. Il rapporto qualità prezzo (con particolare attenzione alla qualità), rispetto ai competitor, è ben superiore. Se considerate poi il grande vantaggio di avere l’intero ecosistema switchbot gestibile da un’unica app con una semplicità pazzesca, non c’è neanche da fare valutazioni sul prezzo 

Ich habe von SwitchBot damals einen kleinen niedlichen Schalter gehabt, der ein Gerät mittels Hebel anschalten konnte. Die Idee war eigentlich genial. Als ich nun diese Sicherheitskamera sah, habe ich diese direkt bestellt. Die Einrichtung in der SwitchBot App war schnell erledigt. Das Solarpanel ist groß genug, damit auch bei schlechtem Wetter die Kamera funktioniert. Wir haben ähnliche von Reolink und die arbeiten seit zwei Jahren auch im Winter zuverlässig. Diese hier von SwitchBot sicherlich genauso. Was ich nicht verstehe, wieso man derzeit alles mit KI/AI bewerben muss. Da ist nichts KI, dass sind einfach nur simple Programme und Routinen. Schon vor 10 Jahren hatten unsere ersten Kameras die Bewegungserkennung und Verfolgung. Die Auflösung ist gut und auch das Nachtbild ist brauchbar. Durch das Solarpanel ist man in der Aufstellung recht unabhängig. Es braucht nur Sonnenlicht. :)

Good clarity and quality on the camera, good wide view and the app is easy to use. The bad, the camera keeps intermittently disconnecting, which ain't much good when using it for surveillance 🤔 Switchbot have been in touch and are replacing the camera, so that is first class customer service. Once I've received and installed the camera I will post a further update. Excellent customer service. The new camera has been up over a week now and have had no issues at all, no disconnections, and notifications for motion are timely and very little lag. Would recommend, purely for the customer service alone.
