Tapo solar panel - fitted to my Tapo doorbell.
I see this panel is advertised as suitable for charging cameras. I bought it for my Tapo doorbell as I couldn't see how the power wasn't suitable for either, and it works fine. I've had it a few months and on a nice summers day it will recharge 50+% per day. This is only a rough figure as it will depend on position, weather etc. In the winter it will be lucky to reach 2% charging, often much less. That saying it's now November and although it's losing battery power the panel slows the loss significantly. I have a cable (6m) for charging it from the mains - without removing the doorbell from it's mount and weather proof cover - which has always been my expectation but the less the better. The 4m cable which comes with the panel is good quality and a decent length. The panel itself is robust and comes with all the required fixings. Mine is sited facing south-ish at a height of 8ft. The Tapo app enables you to view the solar charging data over 7/30 days, along with charge used per event and other relevant info. Very useful. This panel is a good purchase as these doorbells are notorious for poor battery performance (against claimed figures), especially if not well set up. My unit has settled down in the time i've had it and the battery seems to function considerably better than when first bought. Although this item has increased in price since I bought mine it's still a good option as compared to all the faff of constant recharging or sorting out a mains supply.

Very good, allow truly wireless cameras.
I needed a solution to allow external cameras at my elderly mum's house. Wired cameras were not an easy option. I fitted the battery operated Tapo 2k cameras which are good. However I didn't want to be up and down the ladder and charging them if I could avoid it so I took a chance with the solar panels too. They work perfectly. The cameras only use a very small amount of charge anyway, and these seem to top up daily. Hopefully the batteries will manage the level of charging as the solar panels just supply the voltage. I was worried grey days may not be enough, but so far, grey skies in March and they seem to be doing fine. Seems to be the ideal solution so far. Comes with extra cables and fittings, micro usb and c. Re the cameras. Well I had Kasa kit, and at last TPLink have now created an app that does both Kasa and Tapo. The cameras work well. Motion and Person detection seems to be good, the image is clear. Night vision is in colour and the spot light is good. Infra red if you prefer. If you swop to live view, the camera does take a few seconds to refresh but I am using the internet to connect to my mum's place so that may be it. For the money, and the wireless convenience these are ideal. Wired systems recording 24/7 are obviously better but you going to have to pay and get all the wiring.

Good camera/ solar panel
The camera works well. Images are good and clear. The set up is easy although the app is a bit clunky but fine for what it does. I didn't initially buy the solar panel but the if you don't have it the battery runs done quite quickly- a few days, so Decided to get it and it works well, had it two weeks and battery is at 90% - weather has been cloudy, overall really pleased with the whole product

Tapo A201 solar panel for a C425 camera
Update: Dec '24 Solar panel has stopped working even when in full sun. Have tried everything suggested and now have a replacement on the way. Disappointed as less than a month old and it did a great job of keeping the battery charged when it actually worked! Original review Bought this to use with a Tapo C425 magnetic camera. The panel comes with an additional long cable if you need it. Tapo don't really cater for the magnetic camera holder here, so to mount the magnetic plate, I was able to drill through the plastic cap at the bottom of the mount then through the mount itself, using the magnetic plate as a template. The screws that came with the camera originally were long enough to go through the whole lot. It looks neater and saved drilling more holes in the wall. The mount is really lightweight so there's no need for the big screws that come with the panel. On a cloudy day it's showing some charge after an hour or so of daylight remaining, so sure it'll be great when the sun does finally appear again. Just make sure you point the panel in the right direction of the sun. The app does tell you when it's charging via the panel if you enable the solar charging data option in the camera battery settings.

solar happy
Bought for easy maintenance, I seem to have a problem with these. intermittent working, the company try and work with you for information but to me who is not computer savvy, it would be easyer and customer care to return and replace if required Since the above review, SOFIA at TP-Link has pulled out all stops, to get a none computer oldy some support. I could not handle the registration and all the info require on line, Sofia, sorted things out and I returned the product with no problems. A replacement was returned within a couple of days, I feel that the customer service I received was excellent and would not have any qualms about buying further product from them, I have 5 cameras and 1 doorbell, I am happy nwith them all

Whish I'd got it earlier as bundle
Read the reviews. Bought this as my main garden tapo cam is up high and would be awkward to charge each time. So purchased this as after thought. Glad I did. Cam was at 67% I installed approx 3pm yesterday and cam was at 100% by morning. Dont hesitate to purchase even as an after sale one.
