I was saving this for a gift. Opened the box to put together and parts are missing. No battery box. So...my money on this train set is wasted. VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT YOU CAN'T ORDER TOYS AND HAVE ALL THE PARTS WHEN YOU GET THE ITEM.

Great fun for 2 1/2 year-old and he kept asking to use it
The train worked pretty well as long as we put it on the floor and not on the carpet. Once in a while, it went off the track but a lot of the time it stayed on. My nearly 3year old grandson loved it and was able to work the controls forward and backward and adjust the speed by himself. He kept asking to play with it during our Christmas visit.

Great product for the price.
Great product for the price. One small thing, the directions implies that there is a battery carrier in the tender. It does not exist. There are rechargeable NiCd batteries hidden in the front with a large open area under the removable cover, but no removeable battery carrier.

Train
Nice train for price. Seemed to b of good quality. Ran right out of box. Easy to assemble. Neat smoking engine and horn. Nice train set. Grandson loves it. Would recommend.

Train struggles staying on the track
This train set is bigger than I thought it would be, which was a nice surprise. I was expecting something much smaller. The tracks are easy to put together. It comes with small clips to connect the tracks. The white light doesn't turn on, it isn't really a light at all. There are no half tracks which limits what you can build. You are really limited to the configurations that they have in the instruction manuals. The trains are really lightweight and all plastic. This is not a high quality train set (that I was expecting). It is a great one for younger kids. The extra pieces (the people, bridge, scenery, etc.) is thin cardboard, they really are not of any value, my set are going to the trash. You will need 2 AA batteries for the remote control. It comes with a charger to charge the train. The train is having a hard time staying on the track. When I got this train set is was $60, I still think it is overpriced for the quality.
