GL.iNet GL-A1300 (Slate Plus) Wireless VPN Travel Router - Dual_Band Wi-Fi and Hotel Captive Portal, Phone Connection, Extender, Evaluation Point, Pocket-Format, Open Source, NAS

Does the job!!!

Not as Described Hotel feature in default is and lot of risky network error

Difficult to configure to get optimal speed using mobile hotspot for internet and connecting to home network (to mask IP address from foreign country). I’m a software engineer and I run a home cloud and still couldn’t get more than 4-6mbps using this device even though 5G had 300+mbps and home broadband had upto 90mbps. Tried everything and researched using Gemini but it seems that mobile network MTU size causing packets to drop causing this bottleneck. Could get 50-60mbps just using Tailscale software and an exit node running on a laptop at home. No hardware needed so had to return this. Good build quality/finish and cool looking though.

Bakwaas

Doesn't have a 5G-NR SIM based modem inbuilt or an e-sim support, which makes it useless at this price point

This travel router is amazing, I am able to keep all my Wi-Fi devices in my own group and LAN devices while connecting to the local Wi-Fi service. Although I am not travelling, this is exactly what I needed and it works extremely well. Great value for money!

Excelente.

Used on several work trips so far. Immediately installed full OpenWRT and was able to do some pretty funky networking with it to allow access to internet, but also connect into customer network. Myself and my fellow worker could connect to both via Wifi, all while not concerned at all about the Wifi security, or about having to VPN back to our company and then out to the site we were at. Very nice.

This is the 2nd one of these travel routers that I’ve bought. That’s the best recommendation I can give. I’m using my first one as a router for Streamlocator where it performs very well. It also performed well on the few occasions when I had the opportunity to use it as an actual travel router.
