Mine also came with a low battery like others mentioned but haven't had issues so far. I like the rapid read thats nice not to have to wait long. I've only used as underarm and rectal.

I originally purchased this thermometer from a local store when my child was an infant. It works so well and has held up over the years. My child is now eight years old and I purchased a second one from Amazon because of how amazing they are I wanted to have two so when I go on vacations with my kids, I can bring one along, it is super fast and super accurate. I have never had good luck with the forehead, thermometers or ears thermometers. They are never accurate under the tongue. This thermometer is extremely accurate. When my son was an infant we did under the armpit and it was also very accurate. I highly recommend this.

I used this to take my sons temperature under his armpit and it seems to be accurate. It is a large display and easy to read.
