fairly heavy, but really nice, recommended by me (300M)
I got the 300M. Bright mode is quite bright with a long beam and the dim mode is good for normal use to save battery life. It's fairly heavy and big, just so you are not surprised. Feels quite solid and I'm very happy with it. The controls are perfect. It has a slide switch: back position is off, first position forward is dim and second (forwardmost) position is bright. So you can turn it on dim without going through the bright setting. The position of the switch in your hand is natural. No effort to reach or use the switch. The battery guard thing is that in the off position, the batteries are completely disconnected from the electronics which is exactly what you would want. Avoid those "tactical" flashlights with several modes that always come on in the wrong mode and button on back is hardly a useful switch position. I totally recommend this product.

What a great Flashlight.
I got 1 for myself, 2 more for family members. The first 2 were perfect, the 3rd one I Got was almost perfect, not a big problem with it just the switch was not as easily switched on, and sometimes going from off to low it turns on and goes off till the switch is back in place Fully into first click ' low position ' ... Basically the switch was more clunky / tricky than the first two, almost like off track and harder to switch/turn on. The high option does work too so no worries. Thanks and try these out they're great, good beam in the dark outside, on high mode. I Got all 300m, based off the other reviewers recommendation and because it uses AA / Double A. Good luck.

Solid flashlight
Feels like a pretty solid flashlight, I was expecting it to be plastic, but it's aluminum under the plastic cladding and it feels pretty solid - so if you want something small and light to carry in a backpack, this may not be the light for you. Brightness is good -- it's a pretty tight beam so reaches a good distance, I wish it was a little more spread out (or could be focused) for use as a work light, but that's a minor issue. On low it's still plenty bright enough to see the ground while walking or to read a map in the car. I bought this primarily for the "Battery Guard" feature -- it disconnects the batteries entirely when the switch is turned to the battery guard "off" setting. Many flashlights these days have a "smart switch" that still causes some drain while the flashlight is "off", which can not only reduce the lifetime of the batteries while the flashlight is in storage, but a discharged battery is more likely to leak. I got this light to keep in the car, so it could go months (or longer) between uses so I wanted to be sure that the batteries will still be good when I need to use it.

New/not new
Bought 2 of these lights as I needed an inexpensive one for general household needs and wanted a backup. On arrival it was immediately noted that one light had been a return. The packing was torn open and the 3 normally included Duracell AA batteries were gone. The 2nd light was new, unopened and had batteries. I used batteries lying around and fired up the used light and it works fine. The beam appears tight without a great amount of spotlighting and was bright on the wall about 80ft away it was pointed at. Low beam to high beam has a noticeable difference. I can see using a low beam inside the house and a high beam outside. If you're looking for an inexpensive AA battery (3 of them) for light use I think this light will work well.

Great Sturdy Flashlight
I needed a handheld sized flashlight to use for evening dog walks, and for other miscellaneous entities around the house. I love Coleman, and the size & weight together are very convenient. It throws a good amount of light enabling us to see a few homes ahead of ours, and is bright enough to alert oncoming walkers or drivers to our presence. It has a switch for 2-different brightness settings. It’s also comfortable to hold.

Great flashlight
I have owned many different types of flashlights and I have always come back to Coleman because of the simplicity and the design. These don't have the lenses above the bulb, for zooming, which I hate because they limit the visibility of the beam. Also it does not have that annoying flicker of other LED flashlights. Build rugged and a great size. Should be a good one.

Great, but big and beefy for household use.
I also own the 250 M, which uses AAA batteries. i bought the 300 M because I thought the Low setting would be about right at 10 lumens. It is. The low setting on the 250 M is too dim for my taste. The downside of the 300 M is that it's a bear of a flashlight. It's 7-9/16 inches long, 1-9/16 to 1-5/8 inches on the barrel, and 2-11/16 inch at the lens end. It's beefy and fairly hefty. Construction quality and hand feel are top notch. It has a good, solid switch. It's honestly the best flashlight I've ever owned. But for household use, I'd recommend the 250 M.

Good Medium-Sized Flashlight for the Price
This wasn't the flashlight I was looking for. I wanted smaller model to fit in my glove box, but I clicked on the wrong one. (It looks exactly like the one I wanted in the pictures.) This is my third Coleman flashlight that I have bought in the last couple of years, not because they are replacements, but because I find more areas to have one. (Hiking backpack, car, walking the dog, bedroom...) this, and the smaller one I wanted, are bright, have the battery saving feature, are built sturdily and, so far, are long lasting. Am now going back on-line to get the smaller one.

The light strong and seem durable. Only the switch look a little fragile.

I own a lot of flashlights and most of the modern ones have complicated circuit boards with micro processors and or micro chips to control modes electronically and sometimes hundreds of tiny electronic parts. In some cases they need regulation in the circuit for lithium rechargeable batteries which are much more complicated to keep healthy and not safe if abused or defective. Taking a different approach are these Coleman battery guard models, which are much more simple using only a small resistor bank and possibly a fuse and diode for protecting the LED ( I can't see all the components as they are epoxied for protection) I did open it and take a picture of the sturdy switch and resistor design, you can check that pic out below. With this system they have a mechanical switch that moves mechanically to switch the modes from off to low and then high. When its off there is no contact to the batteries ensuring no drain if the flashlight is on a shelf for a long time. This is a great solution for simplicity which is always better for reliability. The output on the 300m is in the sweet spot for me for run time and output. Using 3AA batteries you get great battery life and brightness with hi (350lumen for 3 hours) and low mode (10 lumen for 200 hours). The LED is a nice pure white with no blue or green tint like some cheap ones I've had. Its also got a good reflector that is well centered and produces a nice beam with tight hot spot and usable flood. The tail and head are rubber coated for protection and the rest of the body is aluminum. If you have a power outage it can tail stand and flood the ceiling and 350 lumen on a white ceiling is like having an end table lamp and enough to see well and even read a book! A second set of batteries will be an entire evening of light. So very useful. The only thing is its not 100% waterproof. Its only water resistant so dont submerge in water and it should last a long time!

An exceptionally bright torch, even when using low beam, it's bright!

The description of the light is a bit confusing. Light is 7.5 inches in length. The (On low, On High, Off) switch is flawless. No pushing a button numerous times to find the light intensity required only to have it change on it's own. An old school light from the past with LED technology!!!
