All good
I bought for the quality and plug in a go factor. I originally wanted four ports but still a little pricey for me at the moment, but hey ho.

Mac Pro Update
Excellent card, easy to fit and using external SSDs I can now quickly edit video projects on both my 2009 Mac Pro tower and my Thunderbolt equipped MacBook Pro. Hi Sierra recognised the card and all I had to do was plug a standard USB C lead in and away I went. I did contact Sonnet support about cables and I have to say their support is superb. I emailed in the morning (UK time and received a reply to my query that afternoon. I am using Transend Store-jet SSDs which have both Thunderbolt and USB-C connections. So I use Thunderbolt on my MacBook and USB-c on my Mac Pro. I connect the Store-jet to the Mac Pro with Amazon's Basic USB-C to micro USB 3.1 Gen 2 cable (about ยฃ8) and the data speed is excellent. Also the plug does not foul the Mac chassis, unlike reports with some other leads, I was able to plug the lead fully into the Allegro USBC 3.1 Gen2 card. I am a very happy bunny as I Mac Pro has up to date in/out facility and with its RX480 graphics card it is still a very capable video editor and SFX creator even though it is 10 years old.

Works like a charm.
After many years of using this card's USB3 predecessor, I recently installed this card in my 2012 Mac Pro tower 5,1. What a joy to have two 10Gb/s USB3.1 gen 2 ports to speed up my data transfers. Initially I connected an external drive using a 2m active Thunderbolt 3 cable which I had flying around and it didn't work. Sonnet's tech support responded immediately and told me that: "You can use longer than 50cm cables, but you can not use TB3 cables that are 1M or more. These TB3 cables are referred to as active cables and by design they do not support USB 3.0 or 3.1, just TB3 and USB 2.0. So you can either use a longer USB 3.1 cable or 80cm or shorter TB3 cable." Just though I should mention it for those thinking of running longer cables to the device. I'm now using a long USB3.1 cable and all attached devices work very well and very fast. A really useful addition to add some life to my 'ancient' Mac Pro.

I don't think it's the drive as it is now running happily (if very slowly) through the usb 2 slots on ...
installed in a mac pro 2009, upgraded to firmware 5.1. the card is in slot 2 pcie 2 x16 the drive keeps ejecting when it's on this card. I can't see anything to configure; so it's just going to work, or it isn't... awaiting response from supplier; but I'm not hopeful. I don't think it's the drive as it is now running happily (if very slowly) through the usb 2 slots on the backplane.
