Review: Anthropomorphism - I saw this on a cruise and my son (3) has been talking about sharks and the sea etc so thought he’d like this. We rarely read non fiction but thought this would be a good way in. Going on desertcart after the holiday I discovered it was a new book-I tend to buy second hand or wait until birthdays etc and quite expensive for me for an everyday book (around £7.50). My son is younger than the suggested age. He was excited when it arrived today and we’ve been talking through the pictures and lifting flaps rather than reading through. He’s not yet got the concentration to listen all the text (probably too distracted by the many pictures and flaps) but he’s already learnt about flying fish and angler fish. I learnt an orca is a dolphin and not a whale! Quite a few animals have human props like hats and knives plates and forks. That’s made him ask “what’s that” a lot eg for the seal in human diving gear. I’m not sure if he took in that I said it’s just supposed to be funny they don’t have hats etc really! It didn’t even occur to me until he started asking. He has also picked out the dinosaur, space and transport books as something he also wants to read! However I thought this book in the series was one I’d not seen so much of. There are loads of dinosaur books. Review: Top tier - My autistic friend loved this! Full of fun facts and great illustrations. A good few lesser known but super cool sea creatures are in here too. It would be an outstanding choice for any kids interested in sealife.

My nephew loved it!
This book was a total hit with my nephew. I was worried it would be too hard because he's almost three and the words are small, but he was obsessed with the flaps right away and kept asking us to read the different pages. The illustrations are beautiful and give you lots to look at. Very high quality hardcover. Definitely worth the money!
