Simple and straight forward to setup. While it's sucking up water to prime itself, poor a little water into the top just to help it out. No motor noise, nice gentle trickle of water. Doesn't create a massive current, just a steady flow. Only grip I have is I wish I'd brought the next model up.

Great filter for smaller aquariums!
Great piece of kit. Whisper quiet and perfect for my shrimp in their 27 litre nano tank. Have the water cascading onto rocks so to reduce flow in the tank but the water is crystal clear and the shrimp seem very happy. Shame these aren’t widely available in the UK but suppose that’s Fluvals decision. Have already sourced the AC 50 for my larger shrimp tank.

Great little filter. Simple and straight forward to setup. While it's sucking up water to prime itself, poor a little water into the top just to help it out. No motor noise, nice gentle trickle of water. Doesn't create a massive current, just a steady flow. Only grip I have is I wish I'd brought the next model up.

Some units are defective and are a fire risk.
This filter looked the part, I watched video reviews before I purchased this from the USA to the UK, just to make sure it was a good one. It looked the part when it arrived, set up was simple, I followed the instructions perfectly. I switched it on and it worked well..... For 10mins. I went away and came back and noticed the pump has stopped flowing. I checked if the power was on and moved the plug into different sockets but it was completely dead. I then noticed the motor cover had a large bump forming, I touched it and found it was extremely hot! The motor was actually burning inside and the casing was melting. I immediately unplugged it and it went straight in the bin. Fortunately, Amazon customer service were great and issued me a full refund. I'd be very wary buying this product, I actually saw another review after my incident explaining the same thing.

Unsafe for UK use. Fire risk!
I purchased this item as I trust the brand. The brand is brilliant. Unfortunately it's unsafe for UK 240v sockets without buying a step-down voltage converter/transformer. I tried to register the filter warranty with fluval UK and when I discovered it wasn't an option on their drop down menu, I emailed them. When they replied they explained that it wouldn't work with a UK socket with a standard adapter and would burn out and be a fire hazard and I should return it asap and not use it for my own safety. This device is not safe for the UK market and needs to be removed from sale.

Does not come with UK plug!!! Return to Amazon .Most disappointed.

Fire Risk NOT SAFE
I set up this filter and started using it. After about 10 minutes of use I heard a popping sound and saw smoke coming from the filter motor area. I immediately switched the filter off but the side of the impeller casing was already melting. This is a fire risk and should not be sold in the UK. If I had not been present The impellar casing would have continued to melt and ultimately catch fire.

Basically exploded and no way of contacting them
Got it all set up and within 15 minutes was boiling hot and made a weird noise and stopped working. The filter is sooooo hot i couldn’t even touch it. No way to message seller or anything therefore just leaving a bad review to warm others.

Awful product don’t buy
Awful product ruined the stones on the bottom of the tank, started smoking loads and became really hot, took it apart and found a big hole which was burnt from the heat.

Kein Summen, kein Klappern, keine Vibrationen – perfekt fürs Nanobecken
Ich habe wirklich schon unzählige Außenfilter ausprobiert – und dieser hier ist der erste, der seinem Ruf als flüsterleise tatsächlich gerecht wird. Man hört absolut gar nichts. Keine Pumpgeräusche, kein Motorsummen, kein Klappern, keine Vibrationen – schlichtweg komplett lautlos. Selbst direkt daneben ist nichts wahrnehmbar. Für mich ein riesiger Pluspunkt und der Hauptgrund für die volle Punktzahl. Die Strömung ist perfekt für mein Nanobecken: gleichmäßig, nicht zu stark, aber ausreichend, um das Becken sauber und klar zu halten. Genau richtig für kleinere Aquarien. Ein kleiner Kritikpunkt ist das Ansaugrohr: Es ist etwas lang und passt bei mir wirklich nur gerade eben so. Funktional ist es okay, aber schöner wäre es, wenn die Länge variabel wäre oder es mehrere Größen gäbe, statt dieser sehr starren Lösung. Die Filtermedien sind ab Werk sehr gut gewählt und machen einen hochwertigen Eindruck – hier muss man nicht sofort nachrüsten oder umbauen. Auch die Verarbeitung insgesamt wirkt durchdacht und hochwertig. Der Preis ist für einen so kleinen Außenfilter zwar eher im oberen Bereich, aber angesichts der Qualität, der Lautlosigkeit und der Leistung aus meiner Sicht absolut gerechtfertigt. Fazit: Wer einen wirklich geräuschlosen Außenfilter für ein Nano- oder kleines Becken sucht, wird hier fündig. Für mich aktuell konkurrenzlos in Sachen Laufruhe.
