Excellent carry on bag
Awesome carry on bag. I love the second zipper for extra room, it really makes a difference in the amount of stuff that I can pack! It doesn't have the 4 rotating rolling wheels so maybe isn't as easy to use as others, but for a basic, quality travel bag, it's perfect and so cute. I can fit a weeks worth of clothing, toiletries and a pair of shoes in there without expanding the extra zipper.

Strong sturdy wheels!
I took this on a four-month trip traveling by bus and train through Spain, Morocco, and Eastern Europe. It is, without comparison, the best suitcase I've ever owned. First, there's the wheels. There are only two of them, not four, and they are recessed into the body. That gives you more packing space on the bottom (to fit into carry-on size limitations). As the wheels don't stick out they are protected from damage (unlike on four-wheel models). I've twice had wheels break on four-wheel models and would never buy one again. And these wheels are strong. I'm cheap and I don't like taking taxis if I can avoid it. Numerous times I walked a kilometer or more from a bus terminal to my hotel wheeling this bag through cobblestone streets and even once down a gravel alley. Other than a little wear on the surface the wheels are as good as new. If they can handle what I put them through they will last forever being used on smooth airport floors. And if a wheel does break, I see Dakine sells replacements which are easy to put on. If not expanded, the bag just fits the maximum carry-on size for American Airlines and most other US-based airlines. I took the bag as a carry-on and then expanded it to fit additional purchases as I bought stuff. When expanded it can get 'front-heavy' and tip forward. The remedy is just to pack with heavy stuff on the bottom.

Very spacious roll-aboard, with great expansion [from 42L to 57L]
And the black is very inexpensive - but, it's black. On the inside, 2 compartments kept separated by a web screen. 2 zippered pockets on the outside, one a padded laptop carrier. Dakine quality, easy rolling wheels. And even a space to put your drink while you are waiting.

Internal zipper with no pull and upside down
Not pleased with this purchase. Normally we like Dakine bags, but one of the internal zipper pulls was not properly installed on this bag. Did not realize this until packing for a trip and too late to exchange and find a new roller bag in time. Bummer..

Odd interior
I love the look of this bag and I love Dakine products so I was quite disappointed that the interior is divided so inefficiently. The hard side half, that has easy access, is very small with limited space due to the handle’s grooves. The soft side part has a mesh cover with a zipper that is hard to pack into. It’s not just open area. This is the expansion area that I will always have to leave expanded to get enough room. It seems backward. I bought this piece online without seeing the interior. I don’t like the way it’s designed on the inside.

Wore out my first one and bought a second!
I had an old version of this Dakine bag for yeeears and finally had to retire it. Decided to replace it with the new version and I am pleased Dakine’s quality is still good! Sturdy wheels, handles on 3 sides, perfectly fits as a carry on, but has an option for expansion if I want to pack extra and check the bag instead. I plan to have this bag for years to come, just like my last one!

This bad is a great combination of a carry on size bag, than can be expanded that little bit bigger too and checked when required. Zips are good quality and the bad is light on its own.

Gutes Teil, robust, flexibel, modisch-sportlich. Würd ich jederzeit wieder kaufen. Einziger Kritikpunkt: der Griff zum Ziehen bzw die Mechanik könnte noch etwas stabiler und ergonomischer sein.

I am a professional who travels 4 times a month that has been on a career long search for the ultimate suitcase, one that is well designed, easy to lug around and most importantly durable. This bag was so close but ultimately let down by one design flaw. The size is great and the expansion means I can go away for 5 days with everything I need including clothes, underwear, trainers, a pair of shoes, flip flops and a full face snorkel. The handles are all well made and show little sign of wear. The extendable drag handle has taken a lot of punishment and tolerated repeated snagging across kerbs and hotel steps. I can use it to lift the bag at max load with flight bag on top without fear of it coming off. The coffee cup holder is a nice idea but I’ve never used it and as the bag becomes unstable in extended state, I imagine you’d lose your coffee. I’m a big fan of the skateboard style wheels. It amazes me that so many manufacturers sell bags with such flimsy wheels but these are super strong and smooth despite having been dragged through dust, water and smashed up flights of steps. Side the compartments are nicely laid out in the clamshell style. I use packing cubes to separate clean and dirty clothes and allow for better compression. The mesh divider for the top part has survived well and despite a snag, it is still holding well. The down side of this bag is that the 2 plastic feet that stop the bag toppling over are fixed to the non extended part. This means that when you use it in extended mode the feet are at the half way point and the extended corners now support the bag. As these are just material the bag will topple. Sadly it also means that the material has worn through after just 2 years which would have been avoidable if the design had the feet fixed to the extendable part. Overall a great bag for light through to heavy use and the closest I have found to my perfect travel companion but its going in the bin once the gaffer tape wears through. I am looking for an alternative replacement but also tempted to get another one and add my own protection to the outer edges.
