This is more of a starter compass set for your little aspiring drafting engineer. Its an almost mid range set. If you're used to Dietzgen quality, this will feel like plastic cutlery in your hands. I know anything less than five stars will hurt the seller but I can't in good conscience give it more than three. Also, the item arrived falling apart. Notice the bolts with missing nuts on the photo. A little quality control goes a long way. I couldn't find a decent condition retro Dietzgen set to replace one I lost and settled on this item for the time being. I am not entirely disappointed. However don't expect that Dietzgen feel from this set. Its a good item to take to school if there are sticky fingers around. You won't feel too bad if this set grows legs and walks away.

After a store-bought compass wasn't performing well, I decided to purchase a dedicated set for use in drawing. I had figured spending the extra money would be worth it. However, the universal holder (that slip-on one you can use to mount something like a pencil or pen instead) immediately fell apart. This component was the main reason I even wanted a drawing compass: I was unable to re-assemble it, nor find any contact information from the manufacturer "Rotondo." I received a replacement promptly from Amazon, but the second one broke in the exact same manner after trying a few tests with the ruling pen. The thread of the little plastic nut that holds the assembly together is very fragile and breaks, rendering the component useless. If this is a major component for you, do not buy this compass set.
