I don’t usually leave reviews, but this little machine genuinely deserves one. The Ouaken electric composter has completely changed how I deal with kitchen waste. It’s tidy, fast, and surprisingly quiet - I honestly can’t imagine going back to a regular food caddy now (which I also bought from Amazon). It reduces waste dramatically and turns it into dry, odour-free compost in just a few hours. I was sceptical at first, but it actually works exactly as described. Even onion peels and leftovers are gone by the next morning. The smell control is excellent – no weird odours at all (carbon filter system clearly does its job) Build quality is solid and it looks quite smart on the counter, not like some bulky bit of equipment you want to hide away. Our kitchen is relatively small/moderate size so it was quite important that it's not bulky. The bucket lifts out easily and can go straight in the dishwasher, which makes it very handy. I also like that it tells you when the filter needs changing. It’s quiet enough to run at night (you can barely hear it), and it doesn’t give off any heat or steam. I’ve noticed my kitchen bin hardly needs emptying anymore, which feels great from both a convenience and environmental point of view. To conclude, it does exactly what it promises, and does it brilliantly. Super easy to use, very clean, no smell, no fuss. If you cook regularly and care about reducing waste, this is a fantastic buy. Awful….This did have a whiff, put on over night, took about 8 hours to finish and woke up to a rotting vegetation or old dirty socks from your sons gym bag smell…..the worst was the condensation generated, it ran down the walls, dripped off cupboards, dripped off under the wall cabinets and stuck to the windows. No matter how far from the wall and where it was placed in the kitchen, which was vented, the moisture was insane. It fostered damp in the house. When I sent a video (hope this has uploaded, this is to give you an idea), it was moved to different locations and if not by a cupboard it left dirty water running down painted walls to the customer service team, their response was blot the peelings and we have an offer on cartridges!! I wanted to reduce waste, not make more with copious amounts of kitchen roll and when I asked again about the water dripping off everything in the kitchen, they said I could send it back if I wasn’t happy…. which I did. Took over a week to refund and if I could leave 1 star I would, but it won’t let me. Such a disappointment as I had high hopes for this, it did look good and was the size of a breadmaker. The self clean was ineffective, it needed an overnight soak, a good elbow scrubbing and then dishwasher. It had the noise of a fridge hum. Side note, the video I sent in originally has been edited and does not show you the dripping water.

I’ve been really impressed with the Ouaken electric composter so far. I’ve used it four times now, and it’s been easy and reliable each time. On my first run, I used the “crush” mode with a mix of kitchen waste — vegetable peels, fruit scraps, bits of leftover meals, as well as some brown cardboard and paper towels. The result was a dry, brown, powdery material which had a faint ‘oniony’ smell, but wasn’t unpleasant. There was virtually no smell during the cycle I then tried the “ferment” mode. This cycle took quite a bit longer — around 14–15 hours — but interestingly, the end result wasn’t dramatically different. The output was slightly softer in texture compared to the crush mode. However, it was virtuously odourless. I’ve since added the composted material to some raised flower beds to see how it performs over time. So far, I’m hopeful it will break down nicely and improve the soil — and I’m also curious to see whether it attracts any wildlife like foxes, although given the lack of smell, I’m hopeful it won’t. Overall, I’m very happy with the product. It’s simple to use, handles a wide range of household waste, and produces a clean output with minimal odour. However, the Teflon coating in the bucket has started to wear slightly and I am concerned this will only get worse. I have emailed Ouaken who responded quickly, but just said this is to be expected over time (I’ve only owned it a week) and given me a link to buy a new bucket if required. Time will tell whether the compost mixture improves my garden and whether the bucket lasts!

This is a marvellous bit of kit. Fill the bucket up with food waste (no bones or fruit stones) and put it on to crush for a couple of hours and then onto ferment for at least 8 hours. There is minimal noise and no smell. At the end of the time you have made compost. It’s as simple as that. The smell of the compost itself varies but it is never unpleasant. Mostly a biscuity sort of smell but when I put oranges in it came out smelling like Christmas pudding. I am going to dig the compost into my garden and use it when repotting in the spring to give the soil a boost. I can’t think of a downside to this and it’s certainly a lot better than having a caddy of rotting food waste in your kitchen.

I have wanted an electric composter for a long time, so I did research, read customer reviews and consumer reports before settling on the Ouaken electric composter. While there are a lot of options and brands available, I chose this one because of the many positive reviews, consumer reports, good price and features other brands do not have. The 4 litre bucket size is the largest I could find within a reasonable price range. I can fit a ton of kitchen scraps into it and only have to run the composter once to clean them all up. This model also has a self cleaning feature that I did not see in any other brand. The glass top allows you to view the composting process as it happens. It's amazing how quickly a full bucket of food scraps turns into a small amount of grounds at the bottom of the bucket. The composter is easy to set up and the instruction manual informative. I would have appreciated more information on what items can and cannot be used in the composter. They do not have a website with this information, but you can email their customer service if you have a question about a specific item. They respond quickly and are helpful. I have used the composter several times on various types of food scraps and each time it took between 3 and 4 hours to process a full bucket. The compost is consistently dry, clean and finely ground. There is no offensive smell. The composter turns off automatically when the process is completed. It's best to let it cool down before opening the lid, as it gets quite hot. You also want to sit your composter where it has open space all around it, for safety, given how hot it gets. I followed the recommendation to add browns to my greens for a well balanced compost. I have been using finely shredded paper from my paper shredder and it works perfectly. I've also added used paper towels and napkins, which also worked well. The machine is extremely quiet, even at night when there is no other noise. I saw in the customer reviews that some people complained about the lid not fitting. I do not see how it can be an issue, as you just need to line up the arrow and turn the lid to open and close it. The lid fits securely and is easy to operate. I had also read some people experienced the composter jamming. If you do not put unreasonably large chunks of food in the composter, it will not jam. I have not experienced any jamming, even with a full bucket. I have avoided putting in large items like apple cores or corn cobs. I do not eat meat, so I did not try to process bones. The composter has a warranty, so don't forget to follow the instructions in the manual and register your warranty by emailing the company your Amazon order number. I do not have any concerns or complaints about the composter. It has exceeded my expectations. The only quirk I have found is that when you open the lid, the power comes on automatically. This is helpful if you are going to use the machine at the time, but if you are just putting some scraps in there for later, you have to manually turn the machine off. UPDATE: I experienced some technical difficulties with my composter, so I contacted the company for assistance. They were amazing. Initially they provided detailed instructions on how to overcome the issue, but when that did not work, they offered me a new composter, shipped immediately. I have had occasion to contact the company with other questions, and they always responded quickly and provided the information needed. Superior customer service consistently provided by Ouaken.

Comme je ne peux plus me passer de cette machine extraordinaire, je ne voulais pas regarder pour une autre compagnie, (et j’ai très bien fait de leur faire confiance) car elle est parfaite pour moi. Elle est dans le top 5 sur des sites d’essais d’appareils de ce genre. Elle est très, très silencieuse. Il n’y a aucune odeur. Elle est très simple à nettoyer, alors ça ne devient pas un fardeau de la laver à chacune des utilisations. En plus, elle est discrète sur le comptoir dans la cuisine. Nul besoin de la cacher à cause de son parfait design. Et comme je me disais, quand nous achetons un appareil électrique ou électronique, il peut y avoir un petit problème sur une ligne de montage surtout quand ce sont des millions d’appareils qui sortent de ces usines à chaque jour. Je confirme le professionnalisme, l’écoute et la compréhension de la compagnie Ouaken. Je suis abonnée à vie à cette compagnie.

I am writing to share my feedback exactly one year after purchasing my composter. I can proudly say this is one of the best gadget additions to my kitchen. I collect all my kitchen scraps throughout the week and use the composter to provide nutrients for my outdoor raised beds and plants. This product is truly worth every penny. It was ready to use right out of the box with no additional setup required. Regarding maintenance, the unit stays so clean that it hardly needs anything more than a simple rinse. While I do replace the filters often due to my extensive use, they are incredibly powerful and ensure there are no issues with food rot smells. Overall, this is a great product, and the customer support team is on another level. I never expected to receive such excellent support. Thank you for a wonderful product and experience.

Used for 6 months and the motor seized up. Was great when it was working. Tried turning unit with container in but will not move. Removed container and it turns freely so yes the motor seized up and definitely didn't get my moneys worth in 6 months. Don't buy.

I had purchased the composter last December, and used it maybe 15 times, for the most part it worked well, although it took longer to run the crush cycle - still happy with the result. Then one day it died; the motor stopped turning. So not great...however this is where the story gets impressive. I emailed Ouaken, and they responded the next day...and over the course of a few days, after some shared videos of it not working, they sent me a replacement a week after that. Truly a great and surprising customer service experience. For those wondering the unit does great with all produce, napkins, and chicken bones...but it did not love too much onion, I think there is too much liquid that comes from it and makes the mixtures quite thick and sticky.
